True, but my point is still there are great albums that are 25 minutes. So for me, the length doesn't bother me. I get why others may not be happy with it. My biggest problem is Hella Mega Tour.

Oh I agree, as long as the quality of the music is still good then it’s ok with me. I’d rather 26 mins of good music than a trilogy of hit and miss.

Please someone make sure all this is recorded and uploaded! Sorry to repeat and be a pain in the ass.... I'm about to watch the football cos my brain hurts from all this. Watching / reading interviews is for after

... that line from Billie about releasing more stuff next year.... I like how free they sound! Fuck Warner

Definitely mixed feelings about everything.

The song is kick ass, with a tasty bass line and catchy af, it gives me a lot of hope for the album.

But everything else is so worrying. The horrendous album cover, 26 mins, the weird trilogy-esque message Billie wrote. (I love the trilogy but it just seems an odd text coming from him nowadays).

I wouldn't be surprised if this is actually, like many here said, just a record they've done to get out of the Warner contract, it makes perfect sense, hence the length.

Exactly. When I read that message he wrote I was like “uhhhhh is everything ok?” And then watching their radio interviews from this morning, they seem great! Nothing weird with the guys themselves, so I have to think someone is trying to be funny with that message.

I ran to my car and listened to it before eating lunch (and I was starving!)

I usually dont like any song the first spin, and this one really threw me for a loop.  But halfway through I got it and absolutely love that Green Day still have new ideas.  Sounds a bit like the Black Keys or some of those indie rock type bands but ya know what?  It works.

Will the album be like this? Will it be all over the place sonically?

I think Billie has finally gotte his "shitty" souding record he loves and that is awesome.  I have to hear it on something else though because my phone sucks.

Warner Music became independent in 2005 and then was bought by Access Industries in 2011

Warner Bros has been out of the music business since 2004/2005

only thing that they share now is just name only

thanks for the insight

so it appears there was two big changes in this company one occurring in 04-05 and another in 2011. I wonder if the change in 2011 has led Green Day to where they are today

I've been a part of two big corporate changes in the span of my career and I've seen the effects the changes have had on people and have seen some people's attitudes change immensely due to it

I feel like I'm the only one, but I am absolutely loving this era so far. It's been the most entertaining lead up to an album ever, and so much is still unanswered.

I just, I'm kind of lost for words tbh. Is the band trolling us all? I dunno, maybe. Do I like the new track? Hell yeah, it's like Dos on steroids! Do I like the album art? My god, I just don't know. Yes and no and yes...but no. It's hilarious and brilliant and shit and tacky and just downright batshit crazy... and I think I love it.

I've been in stitches laughing at times over the past few days on this site, so for that I thank you all. It's been a hell of a journey.

I just love this band. I'm rambling now because I think all this speculation and hype has driven me mad.

I kind of feel where you're coming from @MrElPacho. But at the same time I'm scared. This probably has to do with all of the pre-tour anxiety that it causes me, though, and the frantic need to be up to date on everything that's happening. I don't want to miss anything and it's overwhelming.

Regarding this new album, I just pre-ordered it of course and hope that gave me access to ticket pre-sales, but I still don't know how to feel about it. Green Day is fucking weird and that's why I love them, but this just seems ultra weird. I think that the fact that it's been dubbed the "Hella Mega Tour" and it includes FOB is the main reason I'm concerned. UUUUUUHHHH! I just don't know what to feel right now! I trust GD to do what they feel is the best in their hearts and make good music, even if it involves trolling, but I'm still nervous.

Listening to all the theories here, I'm beginning to understand what this album is about from a business perspective.

I pondered way back early in one of the anticipation threads, about the songs for assholes Instagram being directed at Warner. Still don't know if it's true, but it really seems like things are trending in that direction. The single slash album title comes off as slightly cringe-worthy, but I get it. I get it now.

I really truly hope that this being there shortest album is a big kiss off to the label. I hope it freeze them up to do whatever they want, whenever they want to do it. Some of you have already given similar opinions, and I agree.

And now that I've had a second listen to the song, can't wait to hear it in a live setting. this era is going to be unlike anything we've experienced before, and I think it's going to be a fun ride.

Dear shizzels I don't know what to do with this information lmao  I didn't even know they'd announced a new album until I was checking out the official tour page for the Hella Mega tour and saw the bit about preordering any of the new albums and you get early access to tickets and it took me way too long to wrap my brain around them so nonchalantly pushing the preorder out there like " We're going on this epic new tour!!!.... And yeah, here's an album, but y'know, not as big of a deal." Not really sure how I feel about the album art though, tbh. Unicorns?

You mentioned you worked in the music industry before so just wanted to ask you the following:

1) Did you ever experience a change such as a merger or acquisition how did that affect you and the artists and other parties involved in the business and art?

2) Have you ever experienced anything as weird as Father of All Motherfuckers in your time working in the industry?

this is the only version of the album I can't buy on the GD store. Is there anywhere else I can buy it?

I think it sold out pretty quickly, there were only 1500 copies.

The new Green Day album Father Of All Motherfuckers is a troll album because it's the last on their contract with Warner records.
It's 26 minutes long which is the bare minimum required length of an album, an EP is 25 minutes max for some perspective.
Billie Joe said they're releasing another new album next year in an interview today and sounded over the moon that they're out of the contract with Warner.
It doesn't mean that Father Of All Motherfuckers won't have good music, but the artwork tells you all you need to know about how seriously they're taking this haha.
This is their 13th album, but their 14th album will be the proper new album.
All of this isn't 100000% confirmed yet, but Billie Joe in new interviews has basically said it without saying it, if he did say it then that'd be possible legal action for sabotage so he can only hint at it haha.

This.

After listening to the song multiple songs I am honestly fond of it. It really threw me on first listen but after hearing it I am on board. The only part that bothers me is Billie's voice in the verses. I wonder if working with Butch Walker was a decision by the band themselves or something that Warner really pushed for. Also looked at the page for the Philly date and it said the show started at 4 so it is possible that we still get our full Green Day set. I am nervously excited for this album now.
