Father of All Motherfuckers album - News and Media Coverage

FOAM is written every bit from the heart as every GD album. Billie said he was writing about how the current social and political climate makes him feel and this is how he feels — depressed, paranoid, apocalyptic, drunken chaos. That’s honesty and I relate.

I prefer this album to RevRad for the tempo and consistency. Both are heartfelt, but RevRad is inconsistent. I would have cut Troubled Times and Ordinary World and made a better album. I wouldn’t cut anything from FOAM it’s perfect and hella fun

I like RevRad a lot but I must say FOAM works better as an album thanks to its consistency. It flows really well while RevRad doesn't click just as perfectly.

You know what’s confusing for me? FOAM being a better album than RevRad while there are no songs in FOAM that are better than Revolution Radio, Bang Bang, Still Breathing and Forever Now.

RevRad has better individual songs but as an album is not as good as its songs. Or something like that. Idk. :P

Interesting - that's why us old farts still love an album, complete, an album can be a whole different experience from a dozen individual songs,

I'm surprised most of the reviews from the bigger publications generally seem pretty positive, nobody is saying its game-changing but certainly not taking a battering like I felt it would.

Spoiler

I really like this album - @Chin for a Day sorry bitch babe

Also as one of the older people here - I don't know how BJ has done it but i am relating so much to "I was a Teenage Teenager" - its hit me right in the feels.

I must say that FOAM sounds really good and I like all of these experiments with piano in background, samples, falsetto etc. But it still has some of these Trilogy sounds. I dont know how to explain that, but after 21CB Billie got these specific way of making his vocal melody which is sometimes annoying.

I will never understand the RevRad hate or the insane amount of negative reviews it got.

The middle of the album blows that's the issue

Anthony Fantano hasn’t put out his video yet, so there’s a chance we can have a negative review😂. He hated Father of All (the single) but I’m curious to hear his thoughts on the album

Funny you mentioned that, just watched his review of FOA. Pretty much agree with his sentiments towards that track, it's definitely one of the worst on the album.

Reckon he'll give it a mid tier nothing special type review personally. Equally he may give it a pasting 😂

I like Outlaws too actually but it's just the sequence between Outlaws-Youngblood that gets weak in the album. It's a bit rocky.

Then Too Dumb To Die -> Ordinary World is less rocky. The best part of the album is the first 4 tracks.

So 39 Smooth through Warning wasn't from the heart?

No. You misread it. Yes it’s from the heart because it’s all from personal stuff within the guy’s lives. I love everything they’ve done apart from this new shit show.

I gotta say as much as I prefer longer records, this one being so short has is pros, for example being able to listen to the whole thing beginning to end on the way to work and the possibility of it all being played live without taking up too much time.

Next one I still hope is much longer though :P

Imo following Bouncing Off the Wall with Still Breathing was actually a great idea. Maybe it's because I've personally drew a storyline from the songs on RevRad but to me it had always made sense.

I mean this album is personal and serious in it's own way. I personally think the lyrics are miles better than anything since 21CB. You're sort of missing the point if you just think this album is about not caring
