I'm curious to see how people's opinions change after a month of listening to the songs in proper quality/formats

I know we're all in fanboy and fangirl modes right now.

I think in the Green Day line up it's low for me in rank but only cause they have so many great records.

I do think it's a neat record im just confused right now about where this ranks against the modern GD records.

I can never seem to settle on a ranking of albums....im very Green Day fluid and go through phases of which album is my fave

Okay, regarding the mono situation. Yes of course it will sound different/better in a stereoscopic space. However, sound engineers and mastering technicians also EQ and balance the album in mono. They switch back and fourth so that it will still sound good/recognizable in mono. This is done for multiple reasons, volume control, to ensure that no sounds are in the same sonic space, and (most importantly for commercial music) that it will sound good in mono for public listening. To this last point, when you hear music in the grocery store, Barns and Noble, Home Depot, department stores, etc. it is in mono and audio engineers know this and still want it to sound good.

So will the stereo mix sound better? Undoubtedly yes. Will it be revolutionary? Probably not.

I am looking more forward to hearing not (poorly) ripped from vinyl.

I think the problem is that people is listening to this on stereo devices, moving everything on one channel it does sound more decently. But on top of that there are serious EQ issues between unique and shared sounds as Matt was saying a couple of posts above.

So, maybe what I said was overreacting... I’m so sorry I totally understand where everyone is coming from. I’m so sorry about what I said. I love Green Day fans and I totally get that you may not like an album or two and that’s fine. I had high expectations as well...

It's all good, I know you were just excited after hearing it :)

I just wanted to quote you because I replied to your post with a snarky ass comment -- no harm, no foul. I shouldn't have been so saucy in my reply, I apologize for that. We all get excited, and we all love this band regardless of our feelings on this particular album, and fighting with each other doesn't solve anything. I'm genuinely glad you're happy with FOAM, and I hope it grows on me in time. I think it will. ;)

I just listened to a press stream of the album, and now I feel like a high school loser that will never ever ever ever fuck the prom queen.

The leak is still bad quality right?

Yep. And I still haven't listened

Uhm, I don't know how mono=bad quality but believe what you want :P

I'm just surprised people are still complaining about this. I feel for the guy who leaked it, I am very appreciative of him but hes probably regretting it due to all the people complaining about it's supposed "bad" quality.

In my opinion what we have is better than a demo and leaks I have heard in the past. It sounds very raw which I think works great for the album, then I get to experience it all over again when the CD drops in a different stye. I get that not everyone wants that experience, but I don't see the point in only tasting one great flavor of unicorn ice cream when there are two begging to be tried.

My comment is just solely based on the attitude of people in 2020. There was just a tracklist. Then people were like "I wanna hear the album!!!". Someone takes matters into their own hands and makes the wish come true as best as possible and we get "the quality is terrible". It's good enough to hear the songs prior to physically or digitally owning the album. Your other option is to not hear it at all which is one they can feel free to explore...

If I gave someone $10 with no strings attached they'll just ask why it wasn't 20.

Or you know. We're just commenting on the fact that we're unlucky that the leak that we have is in not listenable quality for us and we're even more anxious to hear the album now that we see other people enjoying it while we value our first listen more. Nobody said a word to the guy that leaked it.

As an audiophile myself I am sorry that comments like this seem ungrateful to me but in all honesty if I of all people can find the audio quality listenable then I am sure other people with standards like mine can manage.

In my opinion you are just missing out if you don't give the mono version a chance, but each to their own I guess. I just hope I still like TTMAC on the CD as much as I do on this leak, because I fucking dig the way it sounds here.

It's good enough to hear the progressions and the tracks that are in the mix. At the time I first heard it I was 90% deaf in one of my ears.

Be thankful you atleast know the songs and can sing along to it when your vinyl or CD arrives.

and no, it's staying at $10 ;)

Has anyone gotten any shipping notifications from the GD webstore? I'm starting to think copies won't arrive on Friday. And one of my orders is still pending even though I placed it about 3 months ago?

Nope. For RevRad, I remember it shipping something like a week prior to release and it showed up on release day.

Haha oh well. I'll get the next one on Pirate Bay in four years and we'll call it even.
