There was already controversy because of this when the song was used in Glee, and an advert for Hewlett-Packard was pulled because it was discovered that he was receiving royalties for use of the song.

Wasn’t there a similar thing when the joker movie was released. One of the main songs used in that movie is a Gary Glitter song but a report came out saying he would not get any royalties for the song in the movie. Could be a similar case here.

How is that legally possible? I mean, even though he's a convicted pedophile, he's still the author of the song and therefore entitled to royalties

Agreed, honestly. I used to admire this guy. Look up to him. Now he's just some Twitter-ranting socialist lacks the self-awareness to realize he benefited from capitalism that he so hates. And the obsession with reliving his younger years in songs and the lazy songwriting overall...bleh. I probably wouldn't have liked GD if I was young and finding them now.

Not really. I used to be big into buying Hot Topic vinyl too. They had some cool exclusive releases a few years ago
