Another German review, this time more positive than the one from Rolling Stone. No rating in the end, but it sounds kind to me. So if anyone's able to understand some German, here you go:

Mike has been relieved of backing vocals duty and that's been one of my major complaints about the newer albums

Maybe they tricked Mike and told him they were recording him singing backup vocals, but everyone just left the building. They figured he needed practice for lip-syncing the live backing tracks!

I think Mike is doing backing vocals now and there. Isn’t he doing some on Oh Yeah! for example?

As I've expressed, overall think it's a pretty average record but I think there's at least one or two songs on here to appeal to every type of GD fan, so I don't understand where some of the outright hate for this album comes from, but if that's someone's honest opinion, I accept it.
I really like at least half of the songs here, but it really is quite a diverse album.

There's a bit of AI, Nimrod, and of course Foxboro Hot Tubs and Dos on here as well as some stuff that's pretty different to anything we've had before. All in all I am glad we got what we got even if I wish there was a few more songs here (and a different album cover, fight me about it!).

Sure I'd rather them continue in the direction they were going with 21cb and RevRad but hey, if this is what they wanna do, it's what they wanna do.

The problem is that... Wait 4 years for only have 2 songs is hard... The problem of this album is that is to short, without many options... With more songs is easyer to be happy...

They have been around for 30 years, this fandom is so diverse, which of course is both a blessing and a curse.

What a very great point, we should possibly have this at the top of each page of this thread!

Am still holding out, if driving myself somewhat crazy by reading this, but a thought occurred to me this morning.  From everyone’s comments, it seems that love it or hate it, some of it is quite different and surprising.  That’s pretty unusual, possibly amazing, for a band on their 13 album and 30 years in!

The chorus lines of Take the Money and Crawl are the best thing about this record, if the fucking producer hadn't put these unnecessary effects on every song, it was something more raw, it would really be a fucking song.

This is true, but if the rumours are anything to go by, we'll be getting more soon, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

My CD has shipped! 💿👏👏👏

I'm getting jealous of all these shipping confirmations! I want my vinyl and dark roast. 😭  I'll be going to the store for a cd on Friday, so I'll at least have something in hand haha.

It’s also one of the few that actually sounds decently on the leak and is not totally butchered by it IMHO

IMHO the sound details will be what really makes these tracks stand out in the actual  release, but of course it’s pretty much up to personal taste. Right now tho, in the leak, it’s impossible to perceive their value, they’re just random noise in the background completely overshadowed by the rest.

I initially didn't understand all the hype about Meet Me On The Roof, but it's gradually growing on me. I love Billie's vocals on it. In general, he did such a good job on this album.

On another note, help me - which trilogy song am I reminded of by the beginning of Sugar Youth? I'm convinced it's similar to something from there but I can't put my finger on it.

Dunno why people are so sure the shitty mixing is due to the vinyl rip. This is Butch Walker's speciality, I even predicted it 100 pages back.

It's what I call the old Butch Special

Obviously the vinyl rip is contributing to low quality, but Walker has shown this habit on other records already. It was already present in the official releases from FOAM so far anyway. FRA has awful mixing

I mean, one thing is to not like the mixing (which by the way is not done by Walker but by Tchad Blake, who is an industry giant), another thing is what we are listening at the moment, which is a totally fucked up rip with huge level issues. Matt. and other people clearly explained what is going on here a few pages ago from a technical perspective, but even only comparing the leak and real version of FOAM you can clearly realize this.

I mentioned in the initial post that the vinyl rip is a factor obviously. The fact is just about every Walker album I've listened to has had production problems holding back the songs is no coincidence, be it mixing, production choices or blowout effects. So a scepticism that the full release is going to alleviate all of the leak issues is founded, in my opinion.

I actually like the production/mixing. I think it’s much better than what we got with RevRad, not to mention the trilogy... Excited to hear the album in stereo and good quality. I’m pretty sure I’ll love this new sound

Sure, and I get that. I mean if someone’s desire is to have Bad Religion sounding record this will defenetly not be the case. I just wanted to point out that the “mixing” issues hearable in the leaks are actually due to the shitty quality of the leak, and have nothing to do with Tchad’s work, which is completely annihilated by this. And that Butch never handles the mixing of a record, according to what he has said during the FOAM breakdown interview, so if you have issues with that, in this or other records, it’s someone else that you have to blame.

Anyway to me the three singles sounds neat both from a production and mixing perspective :)
