DookieLukie
I hope this album has the staying power for me that the Longshot album did. Sometimes songs that are initially ear-wormy don't hold up over time. I also have been playing FOAM too much and I need a break before I burn myself out on it.

Popular Post JReevz
Finally got my first few listens in, and man what a fucking album. I love all the experimentation (more than I thought I would) and I think the album is much more familiar than the 3 singles are. It's definitely Green Day, just with so much more to offer. I think there is a lot of complexity in these 30 minutes that has yet to be discovered - can't wait until Friday to hear it in it's full glory!

Popular Post HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN
Wow, seeing a lot of ratings, album comparisons, deep songs by song reviews with grades and so on. I mean I really love this record already and I already spent hours talking about this and partially did this but... I think I should and will wait the actual album and not a mono version that doesn’t fully represent the final wok of both the band and everyone else that worked on this to compare it to the rest of their discography. 7

Popular Post HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN
Anyway, I think there’s no way this record will have the gentle reception RR had. RR was 100% Green Day’s (And their fanbase’s) comfort zone, this is at least for a good half something that goes in the opposite direction. There are more canonical songs that are actually pretty fucking amazing, and I think this will make it if not fully appreciated at least not hated by most of their fans, but it’s still a big departure from classical GD, haters gonna hate. I am not surprised at all to see some negative or not too warm reactions in here, but I am really happy to see that most of them are actually very or mostly positive, it’s not something I would have give for granted at all with this kind of record, and IMHO it’s really good indicator of the great quality behind this work So much freaking looking forward for the actual record now...
jengd
My memory of the run up to Revrad being released was a lot of hate for the cover (lazy, unoriginal) and then speculation about cover songs when Bang Bang became know as a title and how many songs good and bad, had being called that already followed by complaints about the production, lyrics and how people wanted something different. Once it was out people loved it, liked it, hated, loved the videos - particularly the lyric ones. Could they perform the songs live, how many would be in the set list? To be fair, we’ve not had lyric videos for FOAM but does anyone see any resemblance or remember it like this? Funny old world eh.

I was mainly a passive reader in here at the time, but I remember a shit load of backlash for the production (not sure how many pages I read about volume differences smashing people's ears and so on), but also quite a few negative comments about Green Day selling out once again with a pop track like Still Breathing 😂 I am sure social media was full of this at least.

I don't really know those times but when I look at it now I think cover art was not lazy or unoriginal, it looked very cool. For production part as I know they produced it themselves so there were no other person to blame like this album "Butch Walker sucks" or whatever lol I think fans found that album mostly boring and risk free. I think after the Trilogy it was a smart move for them, now when I saw the comments for this album a lot of people saying It's better than RevRad maybe it's because this one seems like more creative and free like Billie talked about his approach and it all makes sense to me.

I am not sure if it's better then RR, I mean to judge the production from a "technical" perspective I wait for the actual record, the rest is pretty much based on personal taste, but I do already feel that this is really what I wanted right now from this band, while RR left me with some bitter aftertaste (I still really enjoy that record to be clear). I have the feeling that this record brought to the light the talent of these guys in a way that neither RR nor the Trilogy really managed to, but I hold my judgement atm. I just know there are so many tracks I love in here, pretty much all of them even if in different ways, and even more importantly the record flows like a beauty, and has solid, iconic identity. That is really something that the band has been struggling a little bit for a while IMHO.
