Popular Post þjáningu
i've listened to the whole thing 5 or 6 times at this point so i can confidently say that this album is fucking amazing the only track i'm not a fan of is "I Was a Teenage Teenager" - can't get into that song 😕 massive standouts are "Stab You In The Heart" and "Sugar Youth" and "Graffita" 😍 Edited February 2, 2020 by Uh Uh Count Your Money add on

Yes, Billie always has borrowed, but he has always taken that and put a fresh, clean take on it. All songwriters borrow, there are only so many riffs out there. I don't have a problem with that. But this whole album just sounds so lazy and quickly put together. I would rather he had just taken You Broke My Heart and put it on the album. I really wish he had just released the soundtrack to These Paper Bullets. The sound track is brilliant and it was a really fun show. Plus, why do you care if I don't like it? It shouldn't take away from your enjoyment of it. I don’t, I just think you’re confusing borrowing riffs from other artists and songwriting. Taking the melody and changing the lyrics is not stealing if it’s his own song, it’s literally reworking it to make it fit the darker theme of this album. On a separate note, Sugar Youth and Junkies on a High sound like they could have fit comfortably on AI and 21CB. This album has everything.

Stefano Bras
In all seriousness. The only reason we all had very low expectations was the fucking artwork 😂

traviolie1985
I'm kinda wondering if I'm going to dig the scratchy sound that the leak has over the cd version hahaha
Popular Post HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN
I’m in love, could have been the hype in the first place, but I have been listening to this the whole day. It’s such a great record, I’m so proud of this band for pulling out such a gem today. Redefining their sound like this, 30+ years into their career, being free, as many said, free to pick and perfect whatever they wanted from their career and the music they love. Even what in the past has been heavily criticized and what clearly does not align to your fandom expectations. This really is what the me of 2020 hoped for, thank you guys. 8

It’s haunting. And then he changes the ending slightly the second time by dropping it down. Beautiful. Sounds like late period John Lennon to me ❤️
Billie Joes Eyelids
MODS—Is there anyway to condense all articles on the album in one thread or location and all reviews in another? I can’t keep up and it’s just the beginning.
KGLWW
The same thing happens with almost album now. Because it's not Dookie or AI, some people trash it at first, but the reception gets better as time goes. I was worried after Oh Yeah, but most of this album is pretty strong. It's not quite the direction I thought they'd take after Rev Rad, but I think they are enjoying this era. I'm sure they'll start making music that follows in the vein of 21CB and Rev Rad eventually again

Also: Re-work is to make changes to an original version. So, I guess if you are considering the lyrics and the name then yes, it is a re-work. But musically, it is not. Also, I don't care what Matt said about it. I can have my own opinion. 9 minutes ago, pacejunkie punk said: I don’t, I just think you’re confusing borrowing riffs from other artists and songwriting. I said it was a rip off of one of his own songs. I also understand what he did. Guess what I have a brain. I just don't appreciate it like you do. It is called an opinion. pacejunkie punk
I love the message of Junkies on a High. It could be the liner notes for this album — I knew there would be haters, believe me I’m my own worst critic, but this is my own path you don’t have to follow me, I don’t stand for anything, just doing me 💚

It feels like it started with the trilogy, but they got scared off after the bad reception but I'm glad the'yre embracing it. More of Sugar Youth, Graffitia, Stab you in the heart type stuff plz Green Day Yeah, in a certain way I feel Billie's power pop rush started with the Trilogy, but even in that era (and with me being like the biggest trilogy defender), I think the guys were over-compensating for the lack of epicness that defined the band's sound after AI and 21stCB with the magnitude and the overblown marketing and, in the end, it backfired. So in that sense, I feel that this is the first time in a long, long time they're releasing music without any restraints (I would even dare to say since Warning) and I love that!

Popular Post Xelgrim
Well this has been fun, I'm glad you all are enjoying the album. I had been refreshing GDC, KingdomLeaks, and /r/GreenDay all week praying for a leak - never thought I'd be the one leaking it! I was floored by how much I enjoyed this album, didn't have crazy high hopes after listening to the singles but I can comfortably say this is my favorite album they've done since 21CB. Awaiting my C&D letter from Warner, do you think I'll get to meet the guys?? 8 2 8

Guest
Listening to the album over and over again with tears streaming down my face lol. This album is making me extremely emotional for so many reasons. I could write a fucking novel about it but I won't bother. The main point is I'm so grateful for this band. I hope this era brings them endless joy and happiness, lord knows they deserve it.

Plenty of people but they’re not hanging out in this thread 😂 Graffitia is such an anthem, it could be a political campaign song for the Rust Belt. It has a very Americana feel like Tom Petty, Springsteen or even what he did with Jesse Malin. For an album of short songs it’s cohesive while at the same time there’s a ton of musical variety. I’m blown away more with every listen. Oh and can I add that I appreciate the production and mix so much more than RevRad. I didn’t have to turn my volume up or down once. The quiet parts are perfectly audible without the loud parts blasting your head off so well done there. 2
AmyxLongview
The rip is just not good.... just listened to the first track and the vocals are barely audible and certain parts that should be in the background are super loud. I'm just going to wait until Friday or until a CD rip comes out. Glad to hear most people are digging it though!
