So whats your speculation?  Is it coming from management?  From the band?  I just can't figure it out.

I think it's Crush, honestly. Promotion for the other albums has always been pretty strong. Now they switch and it's eerily quiet? It's all so weird. On one hand, it is cool to see them on iHeart again and events like the Video Game Awards and the NYE shows, but still....no interviews, no late night appearances....nothing?

The only thing I think is odd is the lack of a new single. Other than that, I feel like the appearances are pretty on target for the current period with the AMAs,  Game Awards, and NYE. I wouldn’t expect interviews and late night performances until around a week or 2 prior to the album release, at the earliest. But yeah if we don’t see a new single in the next couple of weeks I’m going to find that very weird.

Another thing...Green Day and Billie Joe have got to pick up there social media game. That is where it’s really at. It was miserable for Rev Rad and was looking promising for this era but it’s lacking again. Hopefully that’s just because of the holidays and it will pick up again. Billie could get the most attention with some good posts on Instagram and Twitter (preferably another butt pic to celebrate the new release but I’ll take anything attention-grabbing).

I really hope there's a new single in the next couple of weeks.  That would help push the momentum.  I really don't pretend to know or understand the music industry, and really don't get how downloads and social media work in terms of profit and marketing, so this could just be the norm for the time we live in.  So what should the band, as individuals or as gd, be posting that they are not posting now?  What would be considered a game changer? (Not excluding BJs butt, but seems like there might be other options available....)

On a separate note, I will say that I have enjoyed both the Longshot and Coverup as fillers, and I would have love dto be able to take a trip to the west coast and be at one of those club shows.  I just gotta get my kids through college! Another few years and I will be able to enjoy life a lot more!

A new single would help push the albim release. I can't say I'm hyped for it, but technically, yes, it would be good to release something shortly before the album drops.

One thing I'd point out that seems lacking is consistency. Speaking of content that takes effort to create, they tend to start something that looks cool only to abandon the idea. Billie could do more of the puppet videos that were like a music show, it's something that'd keep more diehard fans feel connected instead of the rather a bit alienated posting that targets more random general public (eg billie e, post malone etc).

Dookie is going to outsell FOAM between Feb 7 2020 - Feb 7 2021

Trouble there is his ADHD. He gets a great idea and then drops it quickly.

Deciding to "keep things simple because it's better that way" is basically the tagline of lazy people. It seems Billie has been going for the "easy A" under the guise of some social commentary concept since 21CB.

Well, yeah FOAM doesn't stand a chance compared to Dookie when it comes to sales, that's for sure.

It's the consistency issue again, but in this case i'm glad they dropped it haha

Mind you I'm only talking about units sold between those dates. Anything prior doesn't count.

Streams also don't count. I'll allow legal downloads.

That is them struggling in the shadow of AI. Now everyone expects their albums to mean something or be some statement.

There might be an issue with sticking up with ideas long enough, but this is a guy who accomplished a lot so most likely he can get work done and there surely are other people involved in the marketing...

They could have shot 5 episodes instead of 2 and spaced them out through a month or 5 weeks. It would be consistent, fans would have something little to look forward to and a reason to look at the social media. It'd be better than alternating between randomly throwing the content out and silence.

That’s just it when it comes to those things though. He’s doing it all himself without a plan. It seems random because it is.

If it's really just him in charge of the instagram, he's actually doing a great job. Maybe the randomness and genuineness is the charm, but maybe if he got a little support with this stuff it'd be even better.

Mike's unicorn art repost pics are all the promotion anyone needs 🤣 But I'm slightly surprised that I haven't seen more promotion for FOAM/the hella mega tour, I'd expect all parties to be focused on hyping that up...

Y'know I'd have to maybe kind of disagree a little bit on that because even if the spontaneity can be frustrating from a marketing perspective, it would make a lot more people more annoyed because it wouldn't be "him" I guess, the whole corporate sellout thing would be dragged up again and besides, like you said, the spontaneity is part of the charm :P

Oh no!  Lol.  Financially speaking, my kids have a firm deadline for our contribution -- 4 years of college, graduate, or don't, it's up to them.  They are welcome to live at home as long as they need to, but we won't pay tuition/housing for college after 4 years.  My older son is on track.  My younger son... time shall tell.  College may not be his thing.  I really hope in a few years we will be able to take some spontaneous weekend trips and splurge a little more on ourselves.  Maybe I'm just dreaming!!!

I wonder how hard it must be to try and manage him... he seems like the type that would resist anybody else micromanaging him, and we all know he's a bit sensitive to "constructive criticism".  Lol.

Or just show signs of effort like RevRad and the Longshot.

I see your point, but idk, the corporate sellout thing is always there and I don't see a difference between selling out with posting puppet videos in a random way or a more thought out way :P In this case it's more about doing the same things in a more efficient way than turning his account into an influencer thing or something awful like that
