dannygreen
Revrad was a good album imho but some songs weren't as good as others. Outlaws for instance is a good idea but turned out as a strange experiment in the end. Somewhere now is good but I don't know, something doesn't work for me. It's like didn't have a spark. Also, some like troubled times (that I consider a very good song) I think came out a bit repetitive and deserved something more in the arrangement. I think, and I know a lot of people will disagree but for me Still Breathing was the highest peak of the album. For some sounded too poppy but I beg to differ. Humble, sincere and inspired lyrics. Billie showing all his singing range like never before. Also innovation (side chained synth on the background) but still classic. 1

It's even one of my favorite GD songs ever - I also have a very personal connection to it because it helped me to recover after a difficult time in my own life. I love the music video so much too, it kills me😭 Along with Forever Now ("My name is Billie and I'm freaking out"), I think Still Breathing has some of the most personal and honest lyrics Billie has ever written. It's like he allowed us to have a look deep into his soul without playing the cool tough guy and without hiding behind metaphors. He has never been more vulnerable and - at the same time - stronger for me. I was so proud of him when the song was released. That's what I loved so much about the RevRad era, it felt so honest and genuine and 100% them. Ah I miss RevRad times... 5 1
The Grohl
14 hours ago, Sheenius said: Yeah for sure but with that said how would Rev Rad not even make a top 50 list? The funny thing is one of the lists actually mentions Green Day in a little monologue yet proceeds to list out the albums with Rev Rad not making the list 😂 What hurt me more was that Black Sabbath 13 didn't make the list either. I don't care if they lean more to smaller acts and actually somewhat prefer that but come on! On a positive side The Interrupters made one of the lists and I agree with that. Yeah that's just a hell of an oversight. And seriously? Black Sabbths 13 wasn't included? That album was a huge deal! And it was pretty damn good! It just shows what the big press and media think about rock music I guess, which is really a shame.

I think the problem is that it sits in the shadow of AI and 21cb. When comparing to other GD records maybe it falls a bit flat but vs other rock records it's a decent album which produced a top 5 rock single of the decade in "Bang Bang". Of course that is subjective but how many songs do you hear on the radio with a higher bpm? Still Breathing showed that they can still craft those fusion contemporary hits that they've been so good at making since AI. Billie's vocals on it are great as well. I thought Troubled Times should have been the last single. The song seemed to get a bit of traction with it's lyrics video. For Outlaws I actually don't mind the song at all. There's something about it that's different than other GD songs. I like the space left for Billie's vocals in the verses. It sounds really cool when listening to it on vinyl. It's got that effect like Ghost Band by Rancid. If you listen digitally it doesn't sound as great as when listening to the vinyl. 18 minutes ago, kaylubd said: Yeah that's just a hell of an oversight. And seriously? It could be the "they're so big they don't need any more advertisement" routine. It sucks cause for old dudes they really rocked on that one. Rush however, was first on the list and their album Clockwork Angels was really awesome so there's another positive note. Especially for a band like Rush that never really strayed into the pop side of things it's a huge accomplishment for them. I got to meet them a year or two before that album dropped. Really awesome and humble guys. Alex Lifeson was a riot backstage.

As for Bang Bang, I think it's a very good song, I also like the lyrics. They are not so easy to interpret but very effective. The only thing I dislike is the mix (my bad). I saw it on a site explained by Scheps. His wit is not up for debate but I don't think the whole-digital process fits this genre of music. I hear it cold to my ears, not as warm as their other records Troubled times is very good song, maybe I would demand something more on the arrangement due to my own taste but I love the way Billie sings:"we live in troubled times" because I believe him and He gives me chills everytime with this statement. This is my major problem with Fra and Foam: for me to connect with the lyrics is hard and I got a feeling like he's not 100% sincere with the listener but It's only my thing, everyone lives music differently.

Miko
These 2 tracks are already better than anything on RevRad so I'm positive. Hopefully we get one or two songs that are like ''Take Back'' and one normal 3min Green Day song 1

They rarely do, and at times it’s been limited to iTunes exclusives and not on Spotify. I wish the 21CB bonus tracks were on Spotify.
