I really do feel like come summer it will be okay to have gigs. 90% of me feels confident that it will happen. If it doesn’t it doesn’t and if I’m wrong I’m wrong. Oh well.

Unless we're talking limited capacity with social distancing large gigs are gonna be the very last thing that's allowed to happen. Thousands of people from far and wide pushed together like sardines, yeah no that's not happening. Even if it was somehow allowed there's no way I'd want to do that this summer, it would be totally irresponsible that soon. That's an 'after every person who's able to be vaccinated has had their full dose(s), waited long enough for it to be fully effective and case numbers have reduced drastically to the point it's no longer considered a pandemic' activity.

Not sure still if there will oven be a concert in San Francisco.  Just to get into the park, you need to have been fully vaccinated or have a covid negative test within 72 hours to get in. We are opening up slowly here in California and getting close to the yellow tier in San Francisco, which would allow concerts at 67% capacity, so fingers crossed.

I just don’t get how the capacity limit would work for shows that already have tickets sold, though. That would be a nightmare unless everyone is issued a refund and we have to fight for tickets again, which doesn’t seem fair.

Not to mention the logistical nightmare that would be timing your COVID test results to a 72-hour window. Still don’t get how that would work either, especially if you have thousands of people in an area seeking a test in the same timeframe. What if your results are late from the lab or something? You’re out the money you spent on tickets?

The UFC is having fans back in from May, the UK is having festivals this summer, so yes there will be gathering crowds in the very near future. There's a good chance of crowds being back in full this summer, once the vulnerable are vaccinated there's no real excuse not to.

That being said, it's too soon to be booking a huge tour for the summer when there are still unknowns. Festivals and one off events are a bit easier to book as there's less moving parts than a full tour. So, no Hella Mega but maybe some one off shows?

EDIT: 17k at UFC 262 in May! Gigs are round the corner.

They are allowed in the red tier, but at 10% capacity for venues holding up to 1,500 people and 20% capacity for venues with greater capacity. If all guests are tested or show proof of full vaccination, that capacity would jump to 25% and 35%, respectively.

If venues separate people into sections, people in the “fully vaccinated” section can sit shoulder to shoulder but they still must wear masks, according to state Public Health Officer

It's hopeful news but tbh I'd rather just wait than go to a show in these conditions. It would be fine for cinema or theatre but for gigs it just....wouldn't be very good. Unless they were playing a 1500 place at 10% capacity and by some miracle you got one of the 150 tickets lol.

Even if small per venues are allowed, I think the current situation in Europe, which I assume could happen again with so many countries being in different places with COVID, would make a big, multi-country tour very difficult.

I’m not considering this tour as a possibility at all.

Yeah, same with Canada. No way the Toronto show is going ahead. I can MAYBE see some shows happening in the states that have just opened everything up because they no longer give a fuck, but at the same time, would they do a tour of this size with minimal dates? Idk.

Honestly, I'm getting a bit frustrated that they haven't said anything. Most bands/artists that had tour dates booked for this year have at least cancelled, postponed dates again, or even have just SAID something by now. The fact that the European shows are under 2 months away and we've heard nothing but radio silence is odd. I get that they're likely waiting for the countries to say no concerts allowed due to insurance and whatnot, but like... come on.

Restaurants/pubs/cinemas etc in the UK aren't even allowed to open (other than for outdoor stuff) until May 17th at the earliest. I get they want to try stuff out but I highly doubt stadium gigs will be happening the following month.
