This is why I really do not think it'll happen this year. Sure, stadiums might be opened to reduced capacity but what are they gonna do for events with tickets sold already? What will they do for people who have pit tickets? Obviously what we once had as pit cannot happen right now. It'll honestly be a shit show if it tries to go ahead this year. They need to postpone or cancel. I know if they go ahead for whatever reason this year, I will be looking to sell my tickets as I really don't feel comfortable being in a pit with thousands of other people, with hundreds of those people likely being unvaccinated. No thank you.

I completely agree with all of this. They just need to cancel it already.

Maybe they’re waiting for this to be cancelled by promoters or government so it’s not on the band because of insurance.

I'm no industry insider but I'd bet that's it. Then they aren't liable for anything if local governments don't allow stadiums at full capacity this Summer. There's zero chance these shows happen this year. They aren't gonna do a Texas /Florida tour. The only question now is does the tour get cancelled or pushed til 2022.

Texas and Florida, sure. Just because we're tired of the pandemic doesn't mean it stops. That's not how Science works. Especially with reports of new emerging variants. There's a reason why there have been pretty much zero new major tours announced for this Summer. Everything big (Hella Mega, Motley/Def Lep, Guns N' Roses, Sad Summer etc) got pushed from last year. Pearl Jam had a good twenty plus US/Canada sold out arena shows scheduled for 2020  and didn't even announce new dates yet.

Yeah yeah yeah. US will still be opened by June.

Haven't read the previous buncha pages since I was last active in this thread, but popping in to say I def don't think this is happening this year.

At this point, it feels 50/50 whether they'll just cancel or try to kick the can down the road to 2022... but it's gonna be big time three stooges syndrome at every the music venues in the world once touring DOES come back in full so best of luck to em (and everyone else) booking venues lmao

I'd be willing to bet you're right.

Define "opened..." I honestly don't understand what's even "closed" right now. We're just not gathering crowds.

Opened as in concert venues, arenas and stadiums back to full capacity.

I think it’s going to be state by state really, based off how they are going with vaccines and case counts. Midwest states could be opened more as they have less population than the more coastal ones. I don’t see Chicago opening to full cap.

I keep checking to see if the NCAA goes full capacity at the College World Series in June. Omaha, Neb. currently has restrictions on large crowd sizes (25% for the NCAA volleyball tournament happening in April) and requires masks in all indoor spaces. I haven’t seen any crowd restrictions announced for the college World Series, yet.

This thread is about hella mega. Which won't be happening this year. Green Day will tour when it's safe to do so not when Trump worshipping governors allow their state to be fully open.

Especially considering that's how all things have been up until this point. Not even Trump mandated things nationwide.

most bands i follow say its impossible to have a "normal" touring/booking route until late 2022 or even early 2023

I don't know. I keep hearing that we're gonna go to Phase 1 C...whatever that means. But pretty much, yes they're trying to open the city back up, which I think is a dumb idea. I actually dined in at a restaurant for the first time in a year and it felt so weird. The place was very well spaced out, which made me happy, but still....weird.

I've been dining in (sparingly) since November. Masks are required when not a your table and tables are spaced out. It felt weird the first couple of times, but now it feels normal-ish. I've also been working in my actual office since August but out of the 17 people in my unit, 2 of us are in the office full time. Some come in occasionally to work short stents or when they have students working.

My county has lifted all restrictions except masks and so far our new case numbers have been fairly stable at a low number. We see what happens in a week or 2 since it was St. Patty's and... it's a college city.

Yeah I'm just not used to it. The bars were packed during St. Paddy's day. I've avoided dining in for the most part, especially since a lot of places are really crowded. But last night wasn't so bad. When I was working I was back in the office, but there were only 5 of us total. And still, it really didn't feel like I needed to be in the office. It's still so weird to me to hear things are opening up. I thought I would be happier about it and rush to get out again and instead I'm just very cautious about it.

I was just gonna post this! So excited for this event and I bought a t-shirt too. Yes, my first thought after was damn Green Day should do this too this year. For them, I’d even splurge for the VIP Q&A 😄

Jesus fucking Christ.... It’s going to be safe this summer most likely with how vaccinations are going. If Gavin. Newsom And Cuomo are too stupid to open up and keep up the disaster that they’ve created in their states then cancel those dates and do the rest.
