Hella Mega Tour with Weezer, Fall Out Boy

The show in Norway is postponed until early June 2021. The exact date is suppose to be announced soon.

I assume that the rest of the tour will be postponed as well, with or without the other opening acts. They obviously won't come to Europe for one show.

I hope  the whole tour got postponed.

It was a frenetic knightmare to get a ticket, so I hope it's not wasted

Is that official? I agree I'd expect them to be playing other shows for definite. Just depends on the venue and what they've got pencilled in for next year

They whole tour won’t be happening

It’s just a matter of when they announce it and whether it’s postponed or cancelled

Well Governor Newsom just had a news conference and talked about reopening California.  But as far as mass gatherings, with hundreds or thousands of people, nothing happening soon on that into June July or August. Until we get herd immunity or a vaccine.   He said numbers need to really show a change in our flattening of the curve, which could happen by the fall, so looks like it will be cancelled for sure here in California.

I just hope my kids will be able to start school in the fall and not be set back more than they already have. I don’t even care about the tour anymore. I’ll be happy to see Green Day once we have a vaccine and this is truly behind us.

The thing I'm really worried about isn't when Green Day get to properly milk us on the Hella Greedy tour, sooner or later, they will and it's going to suck and we forgive them like we always do, but what about small venues? What about clubs that didn't make a lot out of shows before this and now they're without income. Will there be anywhere to go after this ends?

I know some smaller venues like the ones here in Columbus are owned by chains with many different sized venues, so they may be OK. The independent ones? Who the fuck knows.

I know some new loans were apparently being offered to small businesses. But that implies they need to somehow be paid back. Apparently in the U.S. they’re all just going to have to survive on half-assed government benefits with strings attached until fall 2021 or whatever the latest projections are for entertainment events to happen again.

The thing that’s stupid is that if we’re gonna wait for a vaccine there’s a possibility that may never happen sooooo... Plus doctors are saying it would be a miracle to have one as fast as 12-18 months.

Yeah it's so sad. Some small independent veneues have started fundraising campaigns and I alreadey donated for one of my favourite places close to my hometown, but it will help them for some weeks, maybe months. Not for a year or more. Not all of them will survive, that's for sure.

I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around this too, honestly. There are diseases we still can’t cure after dumping how many millions into research. I think everyone is extremely optimistic about that being the only way we’re allowed outside, and even if it does happen — I just don’t get how we’re going to produce it, test it, verify its safety and distribute it this quickly.

Because it’s a virus not a disease.  We know how to make vaccines for viruses the process is the same for any virus (injecting a small amount of the virus so the body creates antibodies and immunity for example) but the process takes time to manufacture and also make sure it is both safe and effective so you don’t harm more people than you help.  That time is typically 12-18 months so that’s the estimate. It can only be fast tracked so much even with companies and scientists working together. The good news is because so many companies and labs are working on this once it’s ready it should be able to be manufactured in large numbers fairly quickly.

Well, technically COVID-19 is the disease caused by this type of coronavirus. But not every virus or even every coronavirus has a vaccine.

So obviously, Germany is banning mass events until the end of August. Goodbye Hella Mega, goodbye festival summer.

California's show in July is all but certainly going to be canceled: "The prospect of mass gatherings is negligible at best until we get to herd immunity and we get to a vaccine,” says Newsom. “So large-scale events that bring in hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands of strangers, all together across every conceivable difference, health and otherwise, is not in the cards based upon our current guidelines and current expectations."

We still don’t have a vaccine for HIV.
