It isn’t like anything either of the boys post on their accounts. And, given the timing and the fact that they all did it within an hour or two of each other can’t just be a coincidence.

I still believe something is coming on July, 19th from the band.

Me too, but I don’t think it’s Green Day.  I hope they still go ahead with whatever they were planning. Don’t punish the fans over this.

But what else could it be? The Longshot mini tour is over and Billie is about to do a CoverUps show. It has to be Green Day related

Yeah a studio version of that and any of the other covers would be amazing. I already love the "Million Miles Away" recording released under the Longshot and the "I fought the Law" Green Day version.

Look, everyone knows here I’ve been saying for years after this album, he plans on making more music on their own indie and so that jives.

With your last post, at the very least, I believe he said it to you. Well done!

I'm actually really looking forward to this! I hope they start doing a lot of EPs and release them on 7" vinyl. We'll never get an album like dookie again, but I could see them doing a 7" with 4 or 5 songs in that style. Or maybe an acoustic 7" with dreamcatcher on one side and oh girl on the other.

I also had another thought. Once they leave Warner, maybe we will finally start to hear some older unreleased stuff. Warner must own all the rights from their recording sessions, so they might be able to release it without the band's permission. The only reason I'm saying this is because when Hank III's contract with Curb records expired, Curb released a few albums of unreleased songs so they could still make money off him, and Hank didn't have any say in the matter, he even told people not to buy them! I doubt Warner would go that far, but it's a possibility

Hopefully, if that Kerrang date was true, they don't delay it too much longer as revenge. Or maybe they assume none of us know about new music in general and were mad Kerrang revealed that.

Thankfully if that’s true, we won’t get American idiot Cover Album pt2. :woot:

There’s something nice about the idea of Green Day going independent again after 25 years. It’s like coming full circle back to where they started. They were always an indie band at heart anyway and at this point they have the resources and facilities to do what they want. They originally needed a major label for record distribution but that’s not an issue anymore with digital.

Yeah it would be fucking cool. I said that I wished for that to happen in the old thread...and what the fuck honestly! Billie Joe read my post and now he's leaving Warner lol

I was actually one of the ones saying I didn’t want it then, because I still think they have another shot at mainstream success and independent seems like semi-retirement. But if they’re giving it all they got with this last major album that’s good enough for me. After that, let them do what makes them happy and we’ll all benefit.

I've thought for a while that the best way to really refresh their sound would be to leave Warner and just put their music out through Adeline, obviously now that particular avenue's unavailable but I'm always happy for any punk band to go indie.

I would also be happy for Coverups studio output, their covers from Bowie to the Damned show the kind of influences Billie has lately and I'd like to hear a mix of that and original work in the same 70s old-school punk style.

It would, however, mean Billie actually has to learn Neat Neat Neat instead of just muddling through the central riff and the lyrics, and I will not hold my breath for that.

I find it hard to believe they would ever break into the mainstream again (aside from alternative/rock radio of course). It seems that once a band (no matter how successful or popular) reaches a certain age i just feel like they're never played on pop radio again. Rolling Stones put out albums, you never hear them. Same with Paul McCartney. These are legends and at this point I think pop and mainstream radio is over them for some reason.

We’re gonna test that theory with this next album for sure. After that, they are free to go with my blessing. Chasing that brass ring won’t be worth it anymore.

I wouldn't want them played alongside the likes of major artists nowadays (minus a few). They shouldn't fit in anymore and they shouldn't fit in given their musical style and what is currently popular. I'd prefer they go more of the route of critical acclaim. No major singles but a solid album that maybe wins an award or two. They've already had fame; now they need to build their legacy.

Yeah i'm not saying it's a bad thing, I would just love an incredible album.

Well, tbh I would certainly hope the number of people who actually want them to specifically produce a bad album, just as long as it can break the mainstream is incredibly small. I mean, anything else would just be silly really

I should've known Kerrang and only Kerrang were the ones capable of such a big fucking lie. And Billie, Mike and Tré posting those pics on the very same day... totally breaks my heart and hopes now. I honestly think they should have said something then 💔

JULY 19th:   GREEN DAY BREAK UP.

no wait.....all of their side-projects break up so they can focus on Green Day.    Not forever, because I need some new Pinhead Gunpowder in the next decade or so.  But for a few years, nothing but a whole bunch of Green Day!

OR

Green Day finally admit that they are the Network before vanishing off the face of the earth until September 27th 2020.  On that day OMEGA 3000 drops and they wear the masks but sound more like Green Day than the Network.  Mike and Tre sing a whole lot more and there is a Tubbies vibe....

OR

Geeeeese.   What the heck.

Do any Green Day songs contain the word guitar?

Bye.
