desertrose Posted September 7, 2019 Share Posted September 7, 2019 From Reddit Tour with Green Day There was a rumor in the Green Day subreddit about a month ago that Green Day was going to be touring with Weezer (with Fall Out Boy as their opener). Everyone brushed it aside as just somebody making it up. Now someone on Green Day Community said their friend who works with NBC in Philly sent them a picture of their calendar with next week being a date that NBC holds a contest for a Green Day and Weezer show at a baseball venue. They said the FOB part likely isn't true, but there will be at least one Green Day and Weezer show that'll likely happen next summer. According to this, Weezer is on tour down in South America, Costa Rica, and Mexico from now through November. But then that leaves December. Why would flyers be handed out now for a December show? Catfish and the Bottlemen were hard enough to sit through twice. If Green Day's playing with Weezer, the set will be shorter, and tickets will be more expensive. Fuck that. With the website and the hype it looks like a tour, but I’m hoping it’s not Green Day’s only tour in 2020 and they also do a proper full one to support their album. This should be more of a greatest hits affair like Pop Disaster and that tour was less than two months. Three large bands like that with a standard show time between 7-11. With set/stage changes for each band I'd say about an hour...hour 15 mins for each band. Just saw a four band show that lasted 5.5 hours. Hard to pin down exactly how long each band played, but I'd say first band 30 minutes, second band 35 minutes, third band 40 minutes and then the headliner 1:40 minutes with the wait time between each band. I've seen Green Day. I've seen Weezer, and wouldn't mind seeing Fall Out Boy. While on paper Weezer and Green Day seem like a great fit, I'd say Weezer need to step up their performance for a show like this. Green Day go all out, and I'm sure I've seen footage of Fall Out Boy jumping around and going nuts on stage. Rivers is a singing statue. The rest of band is statue-esque as well. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed seeing Weezer, but it was a no frills kind of show. The four guys walked on stage, played all of Weezers Greatest Hits and then exited stage. It was a decent concert, but I know that Green Day would instantly make a lot of people forgot Weezer was even there. It would probably go down like the Panic at the Disco / Weezer show I attended where a massive chunk of the audience only watched Panic and then left. Ouch. I wished I hadn't missed the shows with Against Me!, who have become one of my all time favorites. Laura is just special. Here are some other artists I'd love to see with Green Day: Transplants, +44, System of a Down, Scars on Broadway or The Offspring. Some are kind of a stretch but I think would work. Anyway.
