I think it was a bit of both though, Blink were very popular at the time so it was probably helpful to GD's career to tour with them at that point while still knowing they were really the better act Edit: This was Tre during the tour, hilarious: Hide contents Kerrang Magazine interview from June 2002: There is one red-hot question that surrounds the Pop Disaster tour, which is: why did Green Day take it? Rumours and whispers from those in the know say that is was to blow Blink 182 out of the water, which is something they're certainly doing. On a lazy Sunday afternoon, down by the riverside in Milwaukee, this question is put to Tré Cool. "We set out to reclaim our throne as the most incredible live punk band there is," he says. Who did you set out to reclaim that throne from? "You know who," he says smiling. "Not that they ever were the greatest live band, but with all of the young kids who were coming to see Blink it was nice to have a chance to wreck their whole perspective of how things are." Would it be fair to say that you're stealing the show every night? "Yeah, that would be fair." I thought I would have to work harder to get this stuff out of you, Tré. "Well it's the end of the tour," he says. "I don't give a fuck if they read it or not. They can't quit the tour now. That was one of the main concerns actually, that they were going to quit the tour because they were getting smoked so badly. That was something we heard. We were walking on pins and needles to make sure that their egos were stroked the right way." lol I remember this from Tre but remember that something happened between them and Tre (maybe it was this...). I remember that Tom Delonge cried about it for years afterwards too.

Again, the leak is very likely of what only Green Day could pull off. I am currently staying to YOUR version - September single, February album. This is what keeps me going - I breathe in, saying "September single", and breathe out, saying "February album".

I would say anywhere music is created, worked on and edited qualifies as a studio but absolutely, the "Traditional" big money studio is pretty much dead atleast for Rock music. For example, Boston's first debut album was recorded in one of the band member's basement and till Appetite For Destruction was the highest selling debut rock album (I think at 17x Platinum) They talked a lot about this and always mentioned that the mastering engineer was the mastermind behind getting the professional sound on the album. Ross_19
I'm keeping my fingers crossed like the rest of you that we get a new tune on Tuesday, but one of the few things that make me doubt it is the lack of activity on the band's official social media accounts. We are four days away from the rumoured new single / announcement and the band's accounts are still dormant. Of course this wouldn't be a surprise under their old management, but Crush tends to push social media quite heavily with their clients.
thedrunkbunny
I held out hope that the leaks were real but I'm now convinced they're not. Billie speaking in the videos was definitely lifted from the Panicland / Longshot video. I listened to Panicland's music on Instagram and the voice sounds similar to Billie's voice. The June 6th video (their latest post) ends with the someone singing the words 'there's a number you can always call' which makes me wonder if that phrase ends in 1-800-???-???? which were part of the leaks. What's crazy is it sounds so much like Billie, it makes me contemplate if they contributed vocals to the new album or somehow got a leak. It's so strange. I'm so disappointed it's not Green Day because it actually is pretty damn good.

If they were contributing why would the guy (supposedly) sound like Billie. If I was adding backing vocals, the last thing i would do would be to get a Billie Joe Impersonator to do it. unless the whole band was doing it, but that sounds odd, especially if the women are as well. Just seems almost too weird.

I'm so disappointed it's not Green Day because it actually is pretty damn good. I hear you. But something just isn’t right here. I listened to the band on iTunes, they don’t sound anything like the leaked audio from the studio session. Nothing at all, they’re not very guitar driven and have a huge pop influence. The leaked audio from the studio is heavily guitar driven and sounds like it came off of American Idiot. Also, I noticed on their latest Instagram post the song doesn’t sound anything like their actual singer. It sounds just like Billie Joe with distorted vocals. I noticed a comment under the video where someone said “great harmonies” or something like that. Then it occurred to me, what if this band was sent demos to record harmonies to go along with Green Day’s album? This would explain why it’s their studio and they have a copy of the album artwork. Then they would have been told by management to not leak anything about the album. They would be assholes for doing so. Anybody who has leaked real information up to now has been told to delete it. I know because we’ve seen references to the Madonna Inn get posted and removed. When I shared a photo belonging to Frank Maddocks he asked me to take it down. Panicland didn’t work on their album, they are either orchestrating this hoax or someone is doing it and wants everyone to think they are. There are only two explanations here — either Green Day is behind the account and it’s real, or someone else is and it’s fake. All real leaks get removed. MillenniumFan
@Flashback Idk, I’m quick to give up hope, because I just have nothing to hang on. I don’t think either management have any idea this is happening and even if they did, they wouldn’t give a sh... I also don’t think Billie, Mike or Tre have a foggy clue of any of this. Please please just let this be a bad dream. After being disappointed by GD for years and years, I was actually thinking they could redeem themselves. Oh well, roll on with the shitty shitty shitty pop shit by this Walker guy who hasn’t produced a great album in his life, I don’t even care any more. 🙄 *waiter, where’s my 6th sorrow shot*
