Oh I thought he was Patroclus because there was no other body but you're absolutely right, who else would be Apollo if not Mike. Plus it was only gods who could be depicted naked and he almost is. Same! I would love that. It's not something I'd expect from them but who knows, maybe Billie got into Homer.

Now Moses. What does he have to do with the Trojan War. My head hurts.

I don't, like, want to believe they could possibly equate ancient Greece with Jesus and Moses and all that. But? How do you really make a natural connection between them?

Yes, Mike is Apollo and finally someone is reading inside the paiting to go straight to it's possible meaning associated to the content of the possible record.

I'm kind of surprised no one is putting much weight into the true origin of that painting tbh. I refuse to believe not one single person around them knows at least a little about the Iliad, and that they wouldn't have pointed out it has no Biblical significance at all.

Yeah if instead of these literary inspirations we get a Dos no. dos with highly intellectual themes like "the other I got drunk and had sex, fun times fun times" I will be disappointed, but I doubt that happens judging from the music. It just doesn't fit to a lighthearted theme.

Mark Zuckberg is big into Greek Mythodology and the Lliad in particular .

He is known to be a big Green Day fan

BJ played at his wedding !!

I really don't understand those who say "don't create expectations" about everything we are seeing and that it is a minimum founded. Perhaps I have too much faith in humanity, but I believe that everyone here knows that these are voices, speculations and hypotheses, so everything must be balanced between fantasy and what will be reality. But why do you always have to repeat that people have to be always skeptical? Let us free to fantasize and have fun

Yeah exactly, I can't believe they'd fuck up like this. Or maybe they were like "a dead son of a god is a dead son of a god who cares" which isn't a lot better because it just makes them look like they didn't understand the painting :P

Yes, it seems intentional because if they wanted a biblical painting it wouldn't be a problem to obtain one.

Ooh, this better be fake, as it should be "You're Mine", unless it's talking about a mine that you own.

Well, on the other hand the Apollo and Sarpedon painting (1760) clearly has an assonance with this “Lamentation over dead Christ” painting from Tintoretto, which is older and more famous (1560):

Jacopo_Tintoretto_-_Lamentation_over_the

I’m no art expert, but most probably the author wants to create a parallel between Jesus and Sarpedon (both sons of God), and the overall situation, and pay tribute to Tintoretto as well. Maybe this is also the link between Greek and religious stuff in our case?

Well, this is well done, at least. And if it's fake, the creator belongs to this forum for sure😂

I was thinking the same thing, but it's probably just fake.

Also Lazarus isn't Lazurus

And it is yet to be proven, but 10 days probably won't be 10 days as well.

That's nice, I like that idea. It can be a way to express how mythologies/religions are filled with parallels so in the end it's just the one god, father of all motherfuckers. Haha I like this a lot better than the Trump = bad theory.

It's honestly not much better, but at least there's some connection no matter how tenuous, and it doesn't mean they straight up think Sarpdeon is Jesus. Assuming the cover is legit, I can't see it being unrelated to the content of the album.

And what if the songs for assholes IG was there to discuss what to upload as teases all along? Maybe it was planned...

I always thought it is. "If you are knocking, you don't belong here" (for now), they are using that account like a storage of the recording process. As said, half of the work has been made in april... I just checked my telegram group of Green Day Italian fans and I sent for the first time in a  screen of the Songforassholes account the 27th of march - 14 followers and 64 posts (nw 17 and 69 posts).

Ps. I don't  think they're going anti-religious. I gues they are too respectfull for these things now. But something related yes
