So your source says Fall album, which isn't what Billie supposedly told that dude. You've been saying Fall for months. Weird conflict.

No I’m not saying that at all. I have done zero recon into this. I have a lot of my own stuff going on right now and have just been chatting with people that are a shade away.

I don’t even know what Billie told what dude. I have no idea what you’re talking about? What did he say to some dude? And who was the dude?

Edit: I will say that from the things that I currently lmow, a fall album seems the most likely. The only other option would be a very early spring but that’s out of what they would normally do but then again this is the first release under Jonathan so maybe looking at history, even if the whole album has been completed and sweetness; who knows? I am just not sure.

Yeah, if I had a gun to my head I would say fall (October probably) but I might get shot.

Some guy on here said that Billie told him during the Longshot tour that a single was coming in Sept and album in Feb. Then that GD was leaving Warner and releasing music more frequently after that.

Ok so I brought up Green Day as the conversation dwindled and he mentioned something happening in September. I said some like “oh yeah you have had other albums come out in September.” He said “no just a single in September, then an album in February, and of course a tour to follow.”

This is just the jist, not exact quotes.

No mention of Butch Walker. I suppose the single could be unrelated to the album, but that wasn’t indicated in any way.

It might be in Warner Bros fashion, as is the current fashion in general. He did say after fulfilling the contract that music would come out more regularly

@LaughingClock this ^^ exchange happened after the pioneer town show last month, apparently.

Maybe they were planning on just dropping the track with no warning whatsoever, a complete surprise and she ruined it on accident.

Omg. Some guy at the Longshot show is our source here?

I was there after each show, I was on the list at the shows I went to. I never heard anything but Billie has told random people before so I suppose it’s possible. As you said, after this one, I’ve thought the same for years and still think that was their plan with Tril and Warner got lawyers on that idea. So I’m with it on that.

Album in February would be a Jonathan thing. Pat would never but again it’s possible. I don’t know and it doesn’t feel finished for some reason. It would be the latest album they’ve released ever I believe besides one April release I think.

They’ve never had a February release and their last December/winter release was Dookie actually (unless you count Tre which I don’t because it was just the order starting in fall with Uno and then Nov, Dec for Dos and Tre).

Certainly possible but I would be surprised but not completely.  I’ll dig and try and get some info.

Dookie came out in February. Not that 19o4 really predicts things in 2019/2020.

Well I know for sure that on the latter part, that is how he actually feels so if one adds credence to the other. To my dismay; I sat out the Pappy show.  I dunno. Is he still here posting? It would seem strange that Billie would let such a late cat out of the bag.

It’s intereting because of this falacy and that is “we’ve never had a release in September” as that was when American Idiot was released and so I would find it odd that he would say “just a single in September” to his question of “you’ve guys have had stuff come out in September before”, and kudos to whomever to try and pull info. Well done but this makes no sense.

If there was a person who wouldn’t know his best selling album of all time came out when it did or if he was just fucking with him, it would be Billie but that information alone is just factually wrong as again, AI came out in September. One red flag to the info. Damn, you guys are making me like you (personally I don’t care when, lol but the mystery is fun I suppose).

By the way Uno was also released in September, so the poster was correct in “you’ve guys have released things in September before” but Billie was wrong in saying they haven’t but it’s coming in February and of course tour”.  So what gives? No idea!

You’re right. Off of memory (and one month), not bad. ;)

They’ve generally strived for fall releases since AI with a notable May exception of TCB but that was to ride the AI wave which both were very good selling tours. Now family and all that play a part and if it’s a double or triple legged season, they still get some summer with family. February release fucks that up without a large intermission. They know what they’re sitting on, not most of us.

At the end of the day, I would be surprised but not massively to see that a February release is true. Also having to compete against the festivals is harder with a February release. New management. Who knows?

I agree with what you said earlier about recordings not sitting on the shelf for over a year to be released. I think it's going to happen by the end of this year, mainly because of festival season. Green Day is huge when it comes to festivals here in Europe. They headline A LOT of them and I doubt management would let that slip. They've almost always had a NA and EU leg done, then off to festivals, then Asia / Australia and sometimes back for another NA leg. It's great because the NA / EU gigs really generate momentum for the upcoming festival gigs.

edit: Festival season here in Europe that is.

It was one of those AR apps

I read the last few pages and the brief discussion about Billie and astrology was definitely some of the best of it. Then boom, this happen and after Kerrang! another huge bummer, it’s an astronomy app not an astrology one :(

I will go with the first statement of @LaughingClock:

- Single in summer

- Album in fall

- After that: tour

Seems the most legit way.

All depends on the info that was given to this person. I believe the conversation happened but if it’s true or not, I would take with a bag of salt.

And @Murkrage, your assment is dead on and they play more arena shows in the states that make them more than they would make doing festivals here since the early 2000s when an arena sell out or near sell out was pretty guaranteed per state. It’s one of the reasons all international bands want to make it in the states. It’s like 50 countries, each with multiple cities within a bus ride. It’s logistically amazing for touring and they play huge festivals in Europe plus legit arena tours. I’m going to Europe this year if the album is even decent.

Here’s hoping fall. It feels honestly like I would be hearing more buzz if it was now and I’m just confused with this Kerrang shit.

Wait wait wait.

Ok, I just read that the Kerrang announcent was on Kerrang radio and was a tweet read on the air. That changes everything.

BJA just was in Europe, I think they went to Glas and are having fun traveling with family.

This changes some things. I wouldn’t be at all surprised now to find out that February date is correct. I will still be surprised if it’s not a little earlier but I was still giving some credence to the Kerrang info before I read that. That’s not reporting. That’s nothing different than someone saying something here and it going viral, maybe even less reliable.

Things do feel too quiet (hard to explain) for there to be anything ready for release in early fall. Ok. During the Longshot shows, I know they still had inserts and re-dubs to do so if they’re not even around, it could still be fall but that dude could have heard right. It doesn’t make zero sense although I would disagree with it. They should get it done asap.

The Kerrang that made the announcement was the radio station that has nothing to do with the magazine one if that makes it any better for ya

February seems like such a weird time to release the album to me, but if Billie said it then he said it.

The old insiders have been well and truly rustled and I find it hilarious:

I guess we’ll find out more at The Coverups show on 20th. Or, as I’m still hoping, a day before that 😉
