Back again with more juicy info. My source says that trusting so called insiders on the internet is naive and, frankly, hilarious. There is one true insider in this thread, and it’s not me.

guess who it is?

Todd?

Man when this is all said and done I can't wait to laugh about all this and just sit back and listen to some new 'Day.  It shouldn't be to long now tbh. I'm optimistic that we will get something this year, but if not that's all good too. You can't rush art I suppose.

Yeah, agreed. What unfortunately happened is, "impulsive/ADHD Billie" just got a little ahead of himself when he said there would be new Green Day material "sooner, rather than later"

Just like when he talked about playing Nimrod front to back and so on.

Really in my opinion, I don't actually want new material sooner rather than later. I'd much rather like it to be a good album or at least one that was produced with a little more time, care and consideration than both RevRad and the trilogy. On the other hand, this whole thread is really winding me up, occasionally turning me into that precise piranha-like type of fan who can't stop screaming "gimme gimme gimme now", while frothing at the mouth lol

Yeah, it also may be that to him, it doesn't seem that far away because he knows when it's happening haha

Exactly. I'm happy to wait if it means we'll get an extra good album, but yes, the thread is a lot :P

Bratwurst would have been such an insanely memeable song, probably both in terms of title and content. But alas, we shall say goodbye to it now. RIP Bratwurst, you will be sorely missed.

Is everyone completely forgetting song titles from the 90's??? Not so much a comment on "Bratwurst" being meme-worthy, just so many people talking about it...

Emenius Sleepus
Armatage Shanks
Bab's Uvula Who?

They've had lots of odd song titles. And weird shit like like "Stuck With Me" being mis-labeled and just keeping it that way and changing the original "Stuck With Me" to "Do Da Da". I get that Bratwurst seems very random, but still...

Nah, it's probably the guy who's specific life-time goal it was to create a GDC account, never use it for 6 years, then finally to reappear on command, like a ghost summoned by a dark spell and troll us all as an "insider".

All while presenting to us the absolute revelation that Kerrang maybe isn't all that trustworthy lol

Radio stations in Toronto also picking up on the speculation now.  102.1 just mentioned “apparently new green day song July 19 at 12pm”.  Would think they would have seen the Kerrang! Update before saying this. Also timing of track premiere different from the previously stated time?

Nah probably just slow. I don't see there being a new song on the 19th at this point

I mean it was worth the warning I got - harmless fun. I blame that person who mentioned using old accounts - inspiring me to action.

Spoiler

It s the ones that don't post that they are insiders you need to look out for everyone.

Yeah. 21CB is my favourite album and I think it's because they spent so much time on it. But when there's a new album being teased all over the place, I can't help but be excited and then annoyed when the rumours turn out to be false

If @pacejunkie punk 's theory is right and the album is being passed through and tweaked, then I'm fine with that as long as we get a great album

I know many are skeptical about Butch Walker being the producer with some of the albums he's produced but I think the bad albums that he's been credited for haven't been let down by bad production necessarily but by bad songwriting and

Here’s my theory:

This album is being carefully crafted and worked over by the producer, the band and the record label. It passes through many hands, gets much feedback and is tweaked and changed and added to. I think everyone from the band to Warner are taking this release very seriously. GD are trying to put out something monumental and they will not release it before everyone involved feels it’s the best it can possibly be. I also think this album could be another creative leap or departure and that also supports their extreme caution and care.  They know they do not want to screw this up. Unlike RevRad which they recorded themselves and then dropped complete on the record label, this is more of a collaboration between producer, band, management and execs.

Maybe Warner is putting a little gentle pressure on them to produce something special this time or maybe they said the RevRad surprise was funny but don’t try that again.  This could also be a move involving new management. But this is an entirely different beast from RevRad and that’s evident in the process so far on many levels.  That’s my take.

Um... the Trilogy was produced by Rob Cavallo, RevRad was produced by the band... let's have a look at the successes of each of those. The RevRad tour was one of the biggest and most successful tours they've done, hell they had a hecken' private jet for the South American tour! LOL And you think Warner is upset with them for RevRad for some reason or that RevRad was a screwup?? Here's my theory: your theory is whack.

Didn’t say that at all. But I don’t think RevRad performed as well as they hoped over the course of the year. They changed management mid tour. RevRad the single died. This album they are using an outside producer and involving the label. Not involving the label during the process doesn’t give them a chance to comment or suggest changes that may benefit sales and audience reception. Warners didn’t get the chance to do that.

TlDr we're getting the Butch Walker pop shit we aren't hoping for :P

it makes sense - they probably want their mainstream recognition back

Also the tour was average as far as money making rock arena tours go. Part of that was ticket prices which GD like to keep low, but part of that was also that they had a lot of shows that didn’t sell out or they had to reconfigure to fill seats. That shouldn’t happen. You might think they don’t care about these things but they do.
