The graphic designer in me is noticing all of the flaws in this layout 🤔,  but awesome reviews. 👍🏻

(On mobile so I can’t delete the image.)

^^^ Now if I’m Mike or Tre and I’m reading these reviews should I be worried? Has Billie put them in the inadvertent position where they now feel pressured to make a great followup to a surprisingly great side project album?  Could this passion project overshadow Green Day or is Billie just that good that he could make lightning strike twice?  (Because yes I am jumping, dancing and singing like a lunatic to this album daily)

Ironically, it's Billie Joe that should feel pressure about new Green Day stuff after reading this review :P PS: I need time to ''feel'' records.. Listening to LIFL on repeat. It's great, Lol

You’re right about that. And these side projects are typically ways to step away from the pressures of Green Day. He could have just made it worse by raising expectations. It is ironic but also a good problem to have. He can’t help himself he’s just that good (and just for the record and the afterlife, I do think he can top it 🙂)

What is the political subtext of Kill Your Friends?

"We got thoughts and prayers" is the line that sticks out to me as political.

They should only be worried if Billie made this solo record and put it out under the Green Day name.

The Longshot overshadowing Green Day?   One album and some demos that maybe a few thousand people have heard VS 30 years of the best darn Rock N Roll that's ever existed and 85 million records sold....  Hmmmm....  that would definitely be a Longshot ;)

I don't remember, but this same thing probably happened with the Tubbies.

This record is freaking sweet, and I sing and dance to it every day - but it doesn't have all the things that a Green Day record has.  That punch in the nose!

Here’s the Kerrang review. I hate it, it thinks Body Bag is one of the more uptempo songs and Kill Your Friends has no political  subtext. Seriously I don’t think they listened to the album at all.

What am I missing about Cancer Bats and Sleep?   I don't get it.

I'm really loving this album. There's just so much energy coming from it, which recent Green Day albums have definitely been lacking. The lyrics feel genuine and personal. Even the songs that people are interpreting as political as doing so very subtly and tongue-in-cheek. Billie's guitar skills are really shining on this record. So many catchy hooks and little riffs. Just the guitar instrumentals would be fun to listen to. It's the first Green Day album since American Idiot that makes me legit happy listening to it. That special feeling only great music can give you, partially because you're feeding off the band's energy and emotion. I know it's not popular to say this record is good, but I stick by my assessment that it's MY favorite record since 2008.

I'm trying for all three NYC shows, RI and/or Philly are my back ups. I'm hoping it's going to be surprisingly low hype and easy, but I'm going in expecting the worst. In the past I've gotten way too lucky with Green Day club shows and my luck has to run out some time.

He’s saying BJ has totally overshadowed their releases.
