Longshot album Love is for Losers

Most sites say

"Im gonna take it to the mausoleum where I go

And we'll be screaming
Kill your friends!
And we better get it
We'll be screaming
Kill your friends!
And we'll show up missing"

But it sounds like

"Im gonna take it to the mausoleum

Where we'll be screaming
Kill your friends!
And we better get it
We'll be screaming
Kill your friends!
And we'll show up missing""

Saw someone ask about it earlier so >.<

I've learned to get over Billie's grammar issues ever since I realized he can't spell his own setlists ("Hitchen" a Ride) and says "and I could really care less" in Jesus of Suburbia. I'll let him slide since he's cute.

The last one I noticed is when he told that guy on Instagram that his parents “should have chose” birth control. 😂

He never learned to read or write so well.

But he is still brilliant.😄

Out of curiosity, would you consider it a change of meaning?

No not necessarily as I still believe the songs about his various addictions or alcoholism though it would make it more vague as it could also be about touring life and any other mistakes he's made with his marriage. We really need a lyric booklet!

I don't get it being about mistakes in his marriage at all.

I just sat and listened to the whole album and read the lyrics on genius (some of which are blatantly wrong) but there's honestly some great lines in there and I really appreciate the whole project more after doing that. Some of them are the best and deepest he's written in years IMO like "I can self destruct on any given note, my ruin is my story line". That's an awesome line and I didn't even really like that song before. There was a lot that I feel I heard for the first time tonight.

YES I agree on Chasing a Ghost! And I think the line "thanks for the company but I'm still standing alone" (potential all time top-something for me personally) sums up what you're saying about not fitting in - although I initially read it as a "there are nice things/people but in the end we're all forever alone" type of thing (I mean, #relatable af amirite). Aargh Billie you make my head hurt but I love you.

I think it’s has multi meanings (typical Billie Joe) but I also think there’s a realisation as you get older that you become more aware that no matter what family, friends etc you have, you are just you and at the of the day you are on your own.  Hate to bring up the rehab thing but it’s the best example I have, no matter how much support you have, it’s up to you to do it for you.

I have never done that but think you are right, it’s a lot to, process, I need to do that.

The Longshot do not have an official website, correct?  Just instagram and Facebook?  I guess that's the norm these days, websites are for old fogies, right?

Well, that got my old fogie thinking.....The Tubbies and The Network both had official sites....could something possibly be happening on their sites..........

The Tubbies is up and running but it's still just a bunch of women in dresses shaking their money makers.

But what happened to the Network website? I can't find in anywhere!

The Network one seemed to have disappeared years ago but you could still get to it if you directly typed in the address or something. Don't know if that still works or if it's fully gone now. I have seen screenshots of the whole thing around, don't have them though.

The domain is no longer being used, the content has been removed, but Green Day still owns it. Maybe you can find something with way back machine. The url was http://www.thenetworkband.com/

Here’s the Kerrang review. I hate it, it thinks Body Bag is one of the more uptempo songs and Kill Your Friends has no political  subtext. Seriously I don’t think they listened to the album at all.

I don't think it's that bad but this alone is surely proof that they didn't even listen to the whole album

What is the political subtext of Kill Your Friends?

Maybe it’s just my interpretation but to me it reads like a reaction to all of our mass shootings. I posted about it earlier above with a clip but it reminds me of the song Fixing to Die Rag about Vietnam — a very throw up your hands, fatalistic and sarcastic yippee we’re all gonna die response.

I agree with that, but I think it could apply to anything (like, personal or political, life in general)

As Billie’s songs typically do but that does not negate the subtext.

It doesn't, but I don't see much in it that specifically points to the subject of mass shootings either. Not to say it can't be interpreted that way though.

You know...I really wish Kerrang would change their rating system because in a review like that it gets awkward....

You articulated more or less what I meant by "forever alone" in an adult way, thanks  :P

Actual listening aside, Kerrang need to redesign their rating system somehow - three times K does not look good, least of all along with Billie's album

It's hard to believe that last month we basically had no idea what the Longshot was, and now there's so much going on. I mean, the album has been out less than a week, and I feel like I've been listening to it for years already.

This is like... my favourite Green Day related period since 2009, 2010... :-)
