Longshot album Love is for Losers

So I know the chorus for Happiness is

How lonely is your lonely

How lonely is your lonely

How alone is your restlessness

See you when the war is over

Someday when hell freezes over

How unhappy is your happiness

but I’m hearing for the last part at the end as

how loney is your lonely

how lovely is your lonely

how alone is your restlessness

am I tripping on that?

It's new to me does anyone know where the YouTube version of The Devil's Kind comes from?

Sounds like it's been encoded to a very shitty low bitrate for some reason

Someone ripped it from the closing credits of Ordinary World

In The Last Time,

Assuming that song is about Billie Joe's rehab, do you think the lyrics :

I’ll give you all my blood
'Till it's a waste of time

Refer to Bille Joe's addiction and the blood tests that you have to do to prove that you're clean.

"I'll give you all my blood until that becomes useless because I'm clean now"

I don’t think this song is about rehab at all

Soul Surrender is the one song I’m having a hard time connecting with. The melody doesn’t stay in my head, it has a country twang I don’t like and I’m not sure what the song is about. Love the whole album but this is the only one giving me trouble. 😕

I hear it too, but it's really hard to tell what he is saying.

the "someday when hell freezes over"  sounds like "someday when all this is over"  to me.

I personally think we're hearing every word to every song incorrectly.   We need a physical cd that has better transcribing in the lyric booklet than Green Day records do.  lol.   I love that they always include them, but a lot of lines don't add up to what Billie is saying.  There's got to be transcribing program or website that could listen to the songs and give us 100 percent accurate lyrics, right?

If not, just remember - When the hope comes, I am a go.

Has anyone listened to this record backwards yet?    I bet all questions will be answered if we do that.

That's my favourite. I think it's really catchy and its probably the only song where I think both the chorus and the verses are highlights.

I feel that way about "Turn Me Loose".

I was going to give you my idea of what "Soul Surrender" is about but......like the rest of the album, there just aren't any answers.   Is this album happy, sad, angry.....It's hard to say.   Maybe Billie is so sick of hearing about concepts and themes that this is his rebellion - non-sequitur lyrics that literally tell no story at all.  Haha.

Can anyone take a stab at song meanings, because I'm usually building concepts out of every green day song, but with The Longshot......I'm scratching my head.  I love the songs, love the lyrics.....they just seem to be describing how he feels inside without anything really happening.  It's weird.

Finally a song with decent vocal (less filters) and wow, guitars are sick! Any clue where this came from?

Kind of blows my mind that Billie is so open and eager to play all these brand new songs live. Green Day played what...half of RevRad live in an entire tour.

Maybe he wasn't the reason they didn't change up the setlist...

There is a difference between arena shows and club shows

That's what I was implying...but that might upset this whole forum.

There is also a difference between Green Day who have a huge back catalogue and an new side band that have one album. The longshot have an album worth of songs  so they can play their entire catalog plus a few extras.

A Green Day show demands the hits be played, not by the big fans but by the casual fan.

The closest he’s come when he replied to a comment on the Longshot account. He said there is a “rainy day sadness” that runs through all of the songs. I’d say these songs relate to the issues that nag at Billie and cause him anxiety/sadness.

Rainy day sadness is the perfect description.  It's like the songs sounding upbeat and jolly are symbolic of the world churning along and not caring that you're looking for a bump and a wall to call your own because screw you!

It is a sad album I guess, with "Cult Hero" being the most optimistic of the bunch.  Due to the triumphant sound of "Kill Your Friends" I thought it might be too, but oh my goodness it's twisted.   he's killing his family and himself so they can go to heaven and party in a morgue, possibly as zombies.   ?????    Getting thoughts and prayers is the slightest touch of politics The Longshot have.   Wow.

Now I'm thinking it's an album about a Zombie Outbreak.  Hmm.   Body Bag.

Yeah.

In Cuatro he talked about how difficult it is to be playing all new songs live when people don’t know them well yet and here he is doing it again and while we’re still trying to get to know the new ones he goes and dumps 11 new demos on us including more new songs. He’s brave and manic. This is a lot to take in at once but I like it.
