I swore myself I'd listen to it from front to back the first time....but I skipped all the ones I heard already and then listened to Happiness 3 times in a row. Letting Goodbye to Romance before going inside to work.

Haha, I tried the front to back thing to get the full experience but I skipped the cover :P

Was just messing around at home with the album playing in the background, and Soul Surrender came on, and the laugh at the start caught me completely off guard (even though I knew it was there lol). I genuinely thought that there was an evil spirit in my house and I was gonna get killed. It's still one of my fave Longshot songs so far tho.

Half the songs weren't written for this project so do you want to try again?

What are you getting at, like I said in my post after this one I stated that I knew a few of these songs went written for this project..maybe read posts properly before commenting shite.

We can all Rest In Peace now.

Thank god that the discussion can end about this. Now, if only Billie would comment something along the lines of "my vocals are my vocals and they aren't changing."

"Except when I put voice filters on them" :P

I am really pleased we'll get a good version of Devil's Kind

No one wants Billie Joe's voice to change. Actually, most of the community would like to hear that voice, naturally, without filters and stuff. At least in most the songs.

An actual vocal filters discussion is starting because of Matt's light hearted wish for the opposite and two joke responses, nooooooo

Looking for b-sides without filters on Record Store Day.

BILLIE IF YOU'RE READING THIS PLEASE MAKE THE NEXT GREEN DAY ALBUM LIKE THIS.

I think some of the material is a bit samey, but this loose, surf, fun esque vibe is how i want the next album to be. Like the trilogy but with much better production like this. Songs about love and life over politics.

We already have this one that's like that now though . And honestly most of Rev Rad is about love and life, they like to big up the political side but it's really only ever a minority of the songs, even on American Idiot. Still if they continue in this vein I won't be complaining.

I haven't actually listened to it yet (only heard the EP songs) can't wait to when I get home later. It's really amazing how we have this new album so out of the blue

I don’t mind the filters

the back and forth of the filters is old and useless

I don't want the next album to sound like this. I think we have enough of this sound from GD.

And I don't think it will sound like this. Generally, the side projects are for GD to do some different sounds. I mean, American Idiot sounded nothing like Money Money 2020. 21CB sounded nothing like Stop Drop & Roll. So I'd assume the next album will be different

It can be taken into its own thread.

YESS! Considering Revoluton Radio came out in late 2016... We've had like 2 albums in not even 2 years.. Who could have imagined that? I'm so happy... :-)

Postet this in the wrong thread before, but: Am I the only one that absolutely loves the Ozzy Osborne cover ''Goodbye To Romance''? I think I haven't enjoyed a Green Day (ish) ballad this much since ''When It's Time''!

You're totally right but... sometimes I don't know what fans expect out of Green Day, nowaydays. I've been there, too.. wishing for I don't know what but... Then I cleared my mind and realized that I'm happy as long Green Day sound like Green Day. They put out songs since 1988, I don't know... In a way, it's not even that fair to ask for something ''different'', even if I respect every opinion. They made Nimrod, then Warning, then, uhh: American Idiot, then 21st Century Breakdown, eheh.... I guess they're at their peak now, like they enstablished their modern sound. I love football, and there are some 32 years old player that arrived to a point where they can't change they playing style but still playing good in their specificities... :)

I mean this is the album thread to be fair :P. Not actually saying people can't discuss them as part of discussing the album if they want, just lamenting that a joke about it would actually start a debate about it up again

I didn't know the song and didn't know it was a ballad! More to look forward to.

I think the reason I love GD so much is that even this late into their career, they're not phoning it in. They're not just making the same records over and over again (even if some people still constantly compare every single new album to AI). 30 years in and they're still trying to come up with new sounds. It's just great. Even if I don't absolutely love everything that they put out, it's still great to see.

And even though they're trying new things, it still all sounds like Green Day. Some bands do new things but it just ends up sounding completely unfamiliar to what the band is.
