deleteduser7593 Posted April 20, 2018 Share Posted April 20, 2018 I've just listened to the whole album on Spotify. Also watched the video for ''Love is for Losers''. I like the fact that everything on this LP sounds like a mix of Green Day scrapped songs from the late 90s but re-recorded with more rock and roll-ish guitar playing, lil' solos, riffs and licks here and there instead of following the chords pattern. I have to be honest, so I admit that there are a few songs that I just can't enjoy because of the parts taken off songs already released by Green Day. It's different if he takes... I don't know, a piece off ''Oh Girl''... But it's not the same if he takes it off ''Waiting'', ''Lazy Bones'', ''Too Much Too Soon'' etc... That said, the record is very good. I don't why but I feel a very LOOOOOOSE vibe I couldn't get with the trilogy, not even with some songs out of Revolution Radio. I don't know why. I know ain't that fair to compare 2 different projects, even if they are basically the same thing, musically. I said it before, there are a few things I don't like about 2012's Green Day. But the main thing it's not about them. I had nighmare-ish days. During those days. So I have lots of bad memories thinking about the trilogy. Also the fact that Billie Joe had troubles with himself. This fact itself doesn't let me enjoy or analyze those songs in a sort of... I don't know, when you say you mind is ''clear''. My mind isn't. At least not about those days. But it will pass, I'm sure. It's already better. But maybe the fact that I love this Longshot album it's 'cause maybe reflects that ''f**k you'' feel I'm into recently. I'm not happy. And most of the songs are not that happy, here. But in the last years I said goodbye to lots of shit who made me act like I was someone else. People. Thoughts. Situations. And I can see myself in these songs. I love that Billie Joe decided to record a stripped down rock and roll record in like... 2 days, I don't know, haha... One thing I say to me constantly looking in the mirror is... ''you suck, but at least you're yourself again'', Lol With Revolution Radio I had a sort of premonition, but with Love is for Losers I'm pretty sure, Billie Joe's back at doing what he does best. And in the best way ever. I love those guitars. Damn, if he's my favourite guitarist EVER. Fuck you, expensive guitarist with expensive amp playing expensive solos. You got the look. We got the soul.
