What do you want their next album to sound like?

Want to be able to tell there is effort involved but harder, not poppy production i suppose? I think along the lines of of bang bang, it has a cool message/topic but it's harder than most of their modern songs. AND I  want the WHOLE album to have GOOD LYRICS !

I thought the production on FOAM was fine, but I don't think it fits Green Day's sound.

Something epic like 21CB or diverse like Nimrod. But most of all I want less vocal filters and louder bass & backup vocals from Mike.

Agressive like Insomniac and epic like 21CB.

When Bang Bang came out I thought RevRad could be that album I wanted for, but not.

Not trying to be super cynical here but I really dont think they have the "aggressive edge" in them anymore nor do I think, at least I don't think BJA, is up for another sprawling epic album again.

Don't get me wrong that's my dream album as well and nothing is going to stop me from dreaming but being real- I dont see anything like it happening

I think FOAM was actually his attempt to write a dark insomniac type album again (featuring drugs and depression) but it lacks the realness insomniac has so it just kinda came off as overly edgy. And I like FOAM fine enough

No more hand claps. Seriously, they're in almost every song now. It's a bad way to add energy synthetically.

What if GD14 comes out Friday?

Half covers / half originals.

20 of each.

Sounds like Heavy Metal put into a Green Day filter.

I want them to stop with the "Green Day filter" stuff. Makes it seem like they're a cover band.

As the tour is postponed till another year or so, should me expect more music from the band? Maybe those 4-5 songs that didn't make it on the FOAM ? It's not necessary for the three to be in the same room.

I wouldn’t be surprise if something new comes out before the tour starts. They’ve said they plan to release the extra songs and Billie’s been working on new stuff

The Inglorious Hella Mega Idiot.

I wonder if all these songs will influence the album, or if he would rather do something different with the band.

Butch Walker said a short while back he was already starting on the new GD album and Billie said they were going back to the studio together as soon as possible. They have more than enough for an album already. We will definitely get one before next year/tour.

Would be fun! Hella Mega was supposed to have every hits and not a lot of new songs. With a new album maybe we will get at least 2 song from FOAM and 2 from the new album lol

Basically a waste of two albums worth of songs that won’t get played live 😕

Or they’ll just skip FOAM entirely and pretend it never happened like they’ve done with the trilogy. At least the few they’ve played never sounded great live. I’d rather have trilogy songs back they were much better live songs.

I agree, but at the same time I’m sad because I think some FOAM songs would be killer live, like Graffitia, Sugar Youth, Stab You or even possibly Junkies (not that different from Blvd and they’d get to show a different side musically)

Agreed.  I really want to hear Take the Money and Crawl live.  I hope if GD never plays them that at least Billie will play them live with his side projects.

That would be great but I wasn’t expecting to hear those before, it sounded like they were only gonna play the singles and then get to the hits.  It just doesn’t seem like Billie wants to bother to learn all those songs to perform them live. The one time he played Graffitia he screwed it up badly so clearly he doesn’t know it.

Albums are over.  But I don't want individual songs either.

A localized drive of music that can contain a nearly unlimited...wait...that is basically streaming services.

Okay, I want the next album to be ridiculously long.   50 songs.

Super heavy and personal.  Maybe some Warning style commentary in the form of MISERY II.   Nimrod variety.  Insomniac anger.   And that super fun FOAM style.

Absolutely! Take the Money is awesome, very trilogy-like and catchy. I think the entire second half of the album would be killer live.

Yes, you’re right. It’s disappointing, though. New songs are always exciting for me and in my opinion any other song on FOAM is better than the singles, unfortunately. It seems he doesn’t bother with the new stuff, but then again, he’ll mess up the singles too, so who knows, maybe he practiced

I realize too that he was never gonna play Graffitia on the tour then, because when the cancellation happened they had already rehearsed their show and were ready to go so if it had been on the setlist he would have known it better just a few weeks later.

Now I see the benefit of Green Day rehearsing 5-6 days a week all those years. They may have thought it was overkill but that’s why they always sounded so good. That stopped around 2013 and now that they don’t live near each other it’s like going from practicing every day to not at all and it shows.

Definitely. They always used to be super tight and it’s not like I don’t enjoy them anymore - it’s still good enough, but it was so cool when they were the band that sounded absolutely spot on and I can’t say that’s still true
