Billie Joes Eyelids
I stared a good 3 minutes at the Fight For Your Right to Party clip wondering who the one guy was singing before I realized it was Mike

Of course they could just do GD secret pop ups. On the other hand, they have done sober FBHT shows but a real hardcore FBHT show almost can’t happen sober IMO. I mean it can, but it’s a different thing. Just honesty. The off the hook crazy FB shows we don’t want to see. That was a form of unhinged Billie, just wasn’t on iHeart. Hope so! Honestly, I have no desire to see him at THAT level of unhinged. But there's no reason to believe he can't still let loose in a big way even sober. 11 hours ago, jengd said: I finally worked it out, we expect to see weird lounge singers trying to be the cool guy; here we have the cool guy trying to be the weird lounge singer Hahaha, I was actually thinking about how they remind me so much of the typical local dad band and yet that's so not what they are in real life. Spike
Pretty In Pink oh my god Cool that they did a full version of Bastards Of Young. I love the medley so much but I've always been interested in a full version of that one. Honestly this whole thing is so cool. Any word on why Tre isn't involved though? THAT WOULD BE ONE FUCKING GOOD DAD BAND! Those are damn good renditions of all the songs I've heard. I'm tripping out on the whole phrase "Dad Band". That shit is hysterical. It's such a necessary term. How did I go all these years without hearing it? HA! I could totally picture a movie called Dad Band starring Will Ferrell and Will Smith. Nothing's been said about it but I'm guessing it's because Billie and Mike are in the Bay Area and he's in southern California, and this is a pop out and do something close to home in your time off thing. Plus he was busy doing Dead Mermaids around the same time as the first show. Probably just generally busy doing his own things. I'd also guess he could still easily be involved in the future since it's just Chris Dugan doing drums

I guess I'm just used to seeing a handful of bands growin' up that were made up of dads that are over 45 (minimum) and playing classic rock songs for a few dozen friends/family. So that's where the name came from. And I don't mean it as an insult either. I saw a friend of mine's dad's band a few months ago and they had a really skilled guitar and keyboard player and their front man was dressed all flashy and really knew how to work the crowd! I think Ordinary World (movie) should've ended with Perry forming a dad band .

It would be an entertaining movie but no, because we really need the concept of a rock band to seem cool & fresh right now to attract the youngins to it. I’m still holding out hope that there will be a resurgence. Watching these videos just reminds me of how sad it is that 3-5 guys (or ladies) actually playing instruments and singing live is such a dying art right now. The grammys hand the rock awards out on commercial now. I can't think of another time where rock was this far out of the mainstream since it's inception. I'm holding out hope though too. Part of me wishes bands around 60+ like U2, The Rolling Stones, etc. would retire just to create a void for all the rock fans out there and thus a demand for new epic rock bands. But a much bigger part of me can't stand the idea of the many bands I love disappearing! I do think that's what it's going to take though. It's just depressing as shit. There's actually a lot of decent to great bands playing on the level of this show up to mid level right now though. I just worry that Green Day or maybe The Killers are some of the last of the truly epic bands that fill arenas.

The thing I don’t understand is why so-called “alternative” stations don’t play young alternative and rock bands. There are plenty of them out there but they’ve all been relegated to the underground. Our local alternative radio station is one of the most popular, but about 80% of it is not new. Why is no one promoting new talent in this area? Sorry to go off on a tangent based on the term Dad bands 😂

I think with an accompaniment he might be able to but he couldn’t hit the “Fame” part. Of course there is always this Fame: I actually love the song below and the movie is amazing. This is when this sound was considered new and avant garde. The kid hides it and his dad blasts it out of his car.

And getting back to Bowie’s, I’d like to see Billie’s spin on it, it doesn’t have to sound like an impersonation.

Anyone that loves the movie Fame almost has to love music, art, avant-garde type things and is just awesome. Love that you love that! +100000000 rep. Did not think anyone here would like that movie. edit: wait, you were at the show?

I’m sure Billie feels the same. Edit: BTW, this is the “Fame” we were talking about. Do you think a solo Billie could hit the Fame chorus. And I don’t think you can re-render this song. It’s just so, well, unique. I agree though. Bowie is in my top 2 or 3 solo artists maybe under Mercury who granted isn’t solo but there will NEVER be another Mercury. Fame: (EDIT, after listening to it, I recant. I for some reason heard it in my head a lot deeper. Anyway, I don’t see Billie playing disco anytime soon although he did play Rappers Delight so who knows? Either way, sounding like Bowie is difficult. You must've missed the extensive discussion on this last time. To summarize...no. We concluded thanks to blurry pics and eyewitnesses that it's non-alcoholic beer. Not o'douls but a different brand. He also says "where's the fake beer?" like 1 song into the live stream this time. If you have doubts, please refer to the thread from the last show so we don't start that discussion AGAIN, haha. Hermione
Yeah it's non alcoholic beer. But it really isn't necessary to scrutinize every bottle Billie drinks out of and gather evidence to investigate what he is or isn't drinking and speculate about his health every time there's an event like this. It's not our business, it's intrusive, and it spoils every thread where it happens. Everyone groans at the tediousness of it happening again each time. Let's enjoy posting about the show and not speculate about Billie's health please.
