I understand standing up for what you believe in, but frankly I'm tired of Green Day being a "political" band. I almost feel guilty for feeling this way, but I'm just being honest. I feel like Billie was onto something back when he said the president wasn't worth his breath, that he would never write an album or a song about the guy. At some concerts Billie tried to get people to stop chanting about it because it was the crowd and bands moment together and shouldn't be spoiled. I know it's a punk thing to do. Punk / Rock N Roll has been doing it since their inception. It's a tradition. But an even punker thing to do would be to take the high road. Instead of rallying against the things you hate or dislike, stand up tall for the positive things, help the people that need helping and don't give the bastards the satisfaction of knowing they are getting to you. I'd love to hear them speak out in backing a politician or mover/shaker that is doing positive things in the world. Team up with them. The town bishop's an extortionist. And he don't even know that you exist. Billie Joe is still St. Jimmy. He's still Jesus of Suburbia. Is he still an idiot? I don't think so. I think he's become the true revolutionary he's wanted to be, or is at least getting there. But man he's dealt with some heartbreak. It's not over til your underground. it's not over before it's too late. This city's burning. it's not my burden. i'ts not over before late. I need some sleep. WAKE UP! I've got it! Billie could run for president. Really. It would be better than The Rock. So now that I think about it............Billie should say whatever he wants.
