I think one or two 39 Smooth tracks woulda been cool, cause although its a greatest hits album, it plays like a run through of their whole career. Kinda the reason I enjoy it so much, kinda unique the way the songs are in chronological order. So i guess Id add in At The Library, Green Day or 409 In Your Coffee maker cause I think it would fit the flow of the album. More B-sides woulda been cool but im still really hoping for a Shenanigans pt 2.

Yeah definitely, I would've loved to have seen that too, I still think a Shenanigans 2 will be coming (or maybe I'm just optimistic). There are a bunch of unreleased songs from when they were recording Nimrod, I would love to see those pop up somewhere eventually! @Todd did some great research.

“She” was absolutely a hit song. It was played on the radio a ton back in the 90’s and still gets play. Dookie is their landmark album, so of course there’s gonna be more Dookie songs. Every one of those songs were huge when they were released.

There is absolutely no need for “Jesus of Suburbia” to be included on this thing. It wasn’t a hit, and casual fans don’t want to listen to a 9 minute song. Hell, I’ve been a fan for 24 years and I don’t even wanna listen to it most of the time.

No songs from 39/Smooth were included because Tre didn’t play on them. Pretty simple to figure out. Also this way they don’t need to pay any royalties to John.

And uh, it’s a playlist basically. So you know, add your own choices to the playlist and get over it?

Excellent, I agree 100%

A lot of those songs weren't finished, so I wouldn't get your hopes up. Some new info should be posted on here soon :)

That seems like a mean reason . I think it's just because there was only so much room for early songs, I feel like they were being generous to even put one on there and if they were only including one it's natural it would be a better quality and better known Kerplunk one.

And I know She was technically a hit, but there had to be some balance struck between what were the biggest hits and making sure all albums were represented, otherwise several albums wouldn't be on it at all. 5 Dookie songs in a row is a big chunk and throws the balance off a bit imo (it starts to feel like you've just put Dookie on), the same number AI got would've been enough.

I get that same vibe when the Dookie tracks roll out but at the end of the day, Dookie got crowned the greatest Pop-Punk album of all time according to Rolling Stone Magazine this year (as well as all of the previous awards Dookie has won), so it makes sense to see many hits come out of the album and we all know of Dookie's success! :D:happy:

True! I'm just being picky haha, I do actually really like the album.

If I were in charge of the tracklist I'd have taken She off and added Going To Pasalaqua, Geek Stink Breath, Nice Guys Finish Last and East Jesus Nowhere. Just to balance it out a bit (and I still can't believe they did a whole religion themed thing and didn't add EJN)

Good point! Maybe if they'd released EJN properly with a proper video and made it the hit it deserved to be instead of quietly rushing it out with a crappy live video to make room for promoting the AI musical/21st CB songs from the AI musical it would've made it :P

Thing is apart from 21 Guns which has hit single written all over it, 21CB really is best appreciated as a whole. I couldn’t get into EJN until I heard it in the context of the whole album. It was the same with JOS and AI for me.

There is only one song that SHOULD have been on the album, well 2 actually. Back in the USA and the remake of OW with Miranda Lambert who just compliments Billie’s voice so beautifully.

Aside from the aesthetic, taking two of the sexiest people alive with two of the sexiest voices alive and put them together makes, you guessed it one of the sexiest songs from Green Day.

Just adore that song and both of them.

To my point, I don’t understand the point of a greatest hits album in this day and age. I think the best benefit is the songs that they used to lean on are now songs that “newer fans”, some of the hits are new to them and this is just sort of a list of hits going back to Kerplunk and landing on RevRad (and then a new one) and one can only hope that the new album is full of tracks like Back in the USA and OW. My expectations are through the roof on the next album.

To think that AI era fans are now considered old school fans makes me feel old! I mean it’s been 13 years since AI! That is fucking insane. To me it still feels like the new Green

Edit: my point is WHO GIVES A FUCK about an album full of songs you probably don’t play anymore anyway. It’s really just a road map for new fans, not us crazy ones that know every word of every song, “Raw Ham” for example. ;)

So who gives a fuck about old songs re-released? I just don’t understand. Is it just something to talk about? Essentially, for me anyway, we got two new recordings on there and if they put out an album with 47 of my favorite songs and in an amazing order it would matter not at all to me. New albums, obviously different story.

I agree that it doesn't/shouldn't matter to us fans what songs are on it since they're all already released (except the 2 new tracks). But I understand there being talk about the new album and whether the song choices were right in order to attract new fans and such. But really, I don't think that this GH album, even if it had all the best GD songs on it would do that much to attract new fans or anything.

So yes, I think it is just something to talk about... But remember you're on GDC. The fansite where people can make a conversation about the dumbest things last for 100 pages or more

Yup! I’m one of those dummies for show! I’ve had post lately that could take up a whole page (I mean on one forum page, lol).
