I was nine years old when I started following Green Day because they sometimes were on German TV and I started reading newspapers on the internet. Ofc, my knowledge about the band was a bit superficial at the time as I am not a native English speaker. Then when the incident at iHeart Radio Festival happened (I'm not trying to go too deep into this) I felt like everything was getting a bit too serious (I was only eleven so pls don't judge me) plus I didn't enjoy the trilogy songs back then, so I left the fandom for a while. My love for Green Day really took off in 7th/8th grade when my English skills had reached a level at which I was able to understand most of the lyrics so I returned to the fandom in 2014/15 and was on GDC for a good chunk of the RevRad era. This is why RevRad means a lot to me - it was the first time that everything came together for me as a fan because I fell in love with (most of) the album right when it was released, I was old enough to understand the lyrics and connect with other fans.
