Same. I don’t want to pick each line apart because that’s not fair but the lyrics convey the overall emotion and frustration with the nutjobs getting inspired by this administration and the fear and helplessness everyone else feels.  I love them.

Oh yeah, that's how I see it too

I haven't fully analyzed the lyrics, but I think, in general, it is about how the USA is changing under the Trump administration.

It's just a standard Green Day song... Like American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown B-side or a trilogy's song... Not bad, it's standard Green Day... but not one of their best...

Its certainly no BANG BANG - but its something new & I like it - its better than Youngblood that's for sure:dry:

This is something he always does so well — he uses classic American imagery like town parades, fireworks and lemonade and it all means something much darker. It’s really brilliant the more you think about it.

Town parades = nazi rallies

fireworks = gunshots

lemonade = poisonous ideology

= Today’s America

Brilliant

That’s compared to the riot gear showing up on neighborhood streets. Unwelcome and offensive.

I feel like ''Back in the USA'' is a sort of love (so I get why a few users here mentioned a kind of ''happy vibe'' along the song) letter to the place he (Billie Joe) lives in. United States of America, of course. He mentions Green Day fans, Green Day shows and all of the Green Day world (''small town serenade with fireworks on display'') as a key to freedom and happiness through all of the pain (''soldiers of an endless war'') and evil (''every church can have a liquor store'') happening. But he's ok with that, somehow (''taking it to the grave'')... so he'll be ''back'' in the USA, for more ''crazies on parade'', I guess.

Also, something else about OW seems off, but I can't put my finger on what that something is. At first, I thought Miranda's timing was off, but now idk. I can't be arsed to listen to it again just to find out what's wrong.:lol:

I think it’s just her harmony, it doesn’t fit the key of the song and sounds really out of tune and that makes billie sound out of tune too, it’s really bugging me.

I can't relate that much with post-Warning songs but...  Now I get what Billie Joe meant, recently, with, ''Green Day songs are usually about feeling lost''. ''Back in the USA'' is totally Green Day. There's sadness, fear but... hope, too. 'Cause, at the end of the day, there's a clear message through the song. Of happiness. And I'm thankful for that.

''Youngblood'' is probably my favourite song off Revolution Radio. The challenge is with ''Too Dumb To Die'', actually.

Billie and Miranda's duet at the Grammy's wasn't good and neither is this version of "Ordinary World". Their voices just simply don't gel. Give me Norah Jones instead!

Love the sweater :wub: The patches weren't there though. I emailed them and they literally responded within 3 minutes, but unfortunately they're on backorder. :(

The more I hear this song it occurs to me that what I really like about it is that it marries the political consciousness of AI and 21CB with the power pop sound of the trilogy. It’s the best of both worlds.

Sorry but there's no disregarding that :wub: I agree - and it's on the Spotify now so I will savour on repeat for a ridiculous amount of time.

Nooo, they're literally the only reason I bothered ordering a physical copy lol. Did they say how long?

I’m not finding it on my Spotify 😢 Is that because of the time difference because it’s after midnight for you guys?

Presumably!  I didn't expect it to because I don't think it was the case with the Fell For You remix, but yeah I went to check at midnight and it's all there.

@Schlappy nailed it by the way, we've got ourselves a bop :dance::wub:

Really loving Back in the USA and just heard the new Ordinary World for the first time.   Now the Greatest Hits is reminding me of International Super Hits even more.   This is the new "Maria" and "Poprocks and Coke" .

Back in the USA has an American Idiot sound to me.   Also all the lyrics I see has "bitter year" where I am only hearing "woo hoo hoo".   Are they really saying "bitter year" after nearly every line?????

The song gives me chills, particularly the pre-chorus about crazies on parade and lemonade.....man, I love that line.  I can't help but think this song could be insane live when they play in the states.....even with the lyrics that are critical, people could interpret it differently and it could be a chance for people who think they are anti-American to see them in a different light.  Hmmm.  Possibilities is all....    This song could really be a call to arms for Green Day fans of all walks of life.   A winner for sure!

I'm still processing my first spin of Ordinary World.....I was expecting them to do separate verses than each other, not harmonizing the whole thing.  But I'm sure it will grow on me.

Overall I am pumped about this release, although I've got to say I wish there was a deluxe version with all their singles collected in one place.  And 2000 Light Years Away just sort of being tacked on is weird when they omitted so many great tracks.   But I get it, I understand what this is and it'll be cool to have.  I'll probably download the new songs and ask for the physical disc for Christmas since I actually have people that buy me gifts now!

QUESTION:    Are any of the other songs different version as in shorter, longer, radio edits or anything?

Now I"m going to go back and listen some more.
