Yeah. And I'm pretty we're talking about ''Forever Now''.

I love Back in the USA! It has this kind of feel-good-vibe. I can see myself spending a sunny day on the beach while listening to this :) <3

The intro sounds and yeah the whole song sounds like the anthem by good charlotte, just a sneaking suspicion.

Yeah, also!

Well, Billie Joe is a reverend figure on the cover. :)

You're right, but this cover is inspired by picture from 2004/2005, long before FHTB era, so I think it's not reference to The Rev  ;)

You never know ;) could be a subtle hint.

Okay I caved and I'm loving it :wub:  Initial thoughts: yes it's simple, not exactly Platypus but energetic enough (I mean I wouldn't say Mike was out of line) - too short though but that's what the repeat button is for. Nothing groundbreaking and just very Green Day sound wise, nice hooks, the melody is firmly stuck in my head already. I agree on the production though, Billie does sound a bit distant but it kind of falls into place even on the second listen.

And I know how he said Trump wouldn't get any music out of him but before even starting to analyse the lyrics in depth, the first line is so reminiscent of how he described waking up on the morning of the election, to me anyway. As much as I like the personal feel of Rev Rad I'm glad this appears so outright political because it suits them and I'm glad to see them speaking up in times like these. Again, very Green Day.

Well, if they made the video for Back in the USA and if it features scenes of the boys on the road and of live shows, I will cry for sure. It would fit the song perfectly imo because it's so emotional and totally sounds like a resumé of an era for me.

Just wondering how it feels to listen to Back in the USA (an emotional song itself) after 21 wonderful songs. We'll discover it soon...

Can someone find the post about Billie and Miranda Lambert recording together? I remember it was back during or before the summer tour I think, someone saw them outside the studio together or something?

I like "Back in the USA"! I get the vibe though that Billie is the musician on all of the instruments (guitar, bass, drums, vocals). The drum pattern is very simple and there's no Tré-like fills or patterns anywhere. Same goes for bass - there are no little variations off the main progression that Mike likes to do, it simply follows the guitar progression.

I keep hearing Letterbomb and Good Charlotte's The Anthem in the guitars  I like it, but it feels really unfinished. Would've loved a bridge!

The whole instrumental part is disappointing to me. It's a generic pop-punk song good charlotte/simple plan would have released in the early 00s. If it wasn't for the (good) lyrics, this song would be a bummer.

i was thinking the same too. Seems like except from Billie the other two are missing ,but the song is still tight and i think that the production is one of the best green day have ever made.I also think that if Billie did it only himself , is a big achievement

Played it on repeat and now it’s stuck in my head. I love it. Very power pop and the words stand out more with every listen. Sounds like Charlottesville to me and all the crazy shit that was happening while they were over in Europe. I imagine him writing this around the same time he made the Troubled Times video. The feeling is this is the country he has to go back to — “a hero’s welcome home, and there’s no place else to go”. I really like what it conveys. Wish it had a bridge or an extra verse.

OW sounds a lot like Foreverly so to me that’s meh but I wasn’t in love with the song to begin with. It may lend itself well to a country treatment but that doesn’t improve it for me. I would much rather they release Devil’s Kind and Body Bag as bonus tracks.
