no mention about Back in the USA be a cover

"produced by Green Day"

So, it's kind of clear it's not a cover.

Produced by doesn't mean written by. It seems the full credits aren't given on the back anyway (because you'd have to list all the staff and band members for a start).

I believe they would give credit below the song. It sure would have been announced it was a cover and not a NEW Green Day song. But... It could very well be a cover.

You'd think that, but I just checked the back of Kerplunk and Shenanigans and the cover songs on them aren't credited to the originals on the back cover.

I am resigned to the fact that we'll just not find out until we hear the song tomorrow - we'll have the lyrics to Chuck Berry's song open in another tab so we can determine if it's a cover

that's not exactly true tho example the single for Nirvana's The Man Who Sold The World doesn't have David Bowie name anywhere near it other than written by inside the booklet

Me too. I like My Generation but as for the ep I turn Kerplunk off after Words I Might Have Ate.

I don't really think it is a cover, but at the same time when i think about the title ''Back in the USA'', it seems like a title that is very ''bold'' and maybe doesn't fit GD own songs? Of course i know that Green Day has some very political songs, but there is just something about the title that makes my head scratch... Thinking of the title, if it isn't a cover, the song must have been written this autumn or in the summer when the boys returned back to the U.S after their festival run this summer? But also the length of the song is just 2.29? To me that seems kind of weird as there aren't a lot of songs from gd that has this short length. And considering their latest material, i would say it's a 50/50. Would not be suprised to hear a cover or a brand new GD song made by themself.

Haha, totally! ''Sweet Children'' is another great one. Its guitar riff is basically the same used for ''Welcome to Paradise'', just with the D/A chords' change inverted. I'm in love with those fast and ''hardcore'' bridges, too, especially that one you can hear in ''Best Thing In Town'' ;)

I can't wait until this comes out just so people can stop wondering if it's a cover or not :D My vote is no. It's a Green Day greatest hits CD. Why would they put someone's else's song on their own greatest hits album?

My guess Is that the New Song will be about "hey there Is a psycho American President again and Trouble comes back to the USA"

dont hate me, its just an Idea
