i'm so surprised its not leaked already to be honest, I'm not in work tomorrow as i'm performing in AMERICAN IDIOT the musical but i may have a sneaky listen on thursday ;)

Good luck in the musical! That's fucking awesome, dude. I miss musical theater tbh.

You don't have to have a sneaky listen...yet...but...is there anything on the back of the Vinyl cover that indicates Back in the USA being a cover or not? pls respond ily

@dangreenday Have you looked at what it says on the back though? Is there any indication of it being or not being a cover?

I looked at it when it first came in and i don't THINK it said it was a cover (please don't quote me on that though)

Thanks so much - its a whole new world for me so I'm the most nervous I've been in my entire life of anything and I've been in a band for like 15 years haha
as i said to the other question i don't think it mentions it being a cover (but not 100% sure)

Even if it was a cover it’d still technically be a new song as Green Day has never released that song before

Did they self produce the Warning LP too? I thought that was also Rob Cavallo, but Minority and Warning are credited only to GD.

Just now, Todd said:

Yes

Oh, why do I recall them saying that RevRad was the first time they self produced an album since Kerplunk? And at the Wrigley press conference I thought they said since Lookout days Rob had produced all of them apart from 21CB.

Green Day produced it. Rob Cavallo was an executive producer on the album though.

I think they said it was like Kerplunk since it was just them and the engineer- no one from the label stopping to check in on them

Yeah that was probably it. I wonder why Rob took a step back for Warning?

Considering "Back in the USA" is highlighted on the sticker label, it seems clear now that it's an original song. I'm pretty excited to hear this.

It’s the only “new song” on the thing so of course it’s going to be the highlighted track, regardless if it’s original or a cover.

It says "featuring 2 new songs." Both are considered new. Idk, if it's a cover it would be kind of sketchy. Like getting us to pre-order under false ideas.

I’m loving the “ ....from the dawn of creation.....” bit.   Can’t wait.  You may or may not be surprised to know that I have had nothing whatsoever from Warner’s.  Not even the usual “we will get back to you”.

Technically for Still Breathing they used theme from Could Have Been Mine by The Struts. The credits are written on RevRad cover, but not on this one. It just said who produced these songs, not created them. But of course I know Still Breathing it's not exactly a cover, so the situation is a little bit different.

Any leak yet?

I don't think it leak before the release.

I hope to find ordinary world and back in the usa without buying the whole album, since I have the entire collection already

Well, "they" being whoever is doing the Facebook promo — I know it's likely nothing in advertisements is written directly by the band itself.

Though the announcement post that said "2 new songs" was literally signed with their names. :P

  Reveal hidden contents

And yeah, I'd be disappointed if it turned out that "2 new songs" turned out to be no new songs. Though a cover may still be enjoyable to listen to, it's not the same as listening to a song being performed by the person who wrote it. Cover songs are definitely enjoyable in their own way but that's not what was advertised.

Oh no . Well I still think it's been clear it might be a cover since day one, especially knowing they called the redone Ordinary World a new song too, and a cover is more of a "new song" from GD than that, and knowing they're Chuck Berry fans and have covered him before. So no one should really be surprised if it is :P

I'll be expecting a cover, which I'll enjoy, or I'll be pleasantly surprised by a new song, so I'm going to win either way :P

Also I'm very happy to see a jewel case!!

I love how you're defending the possibility that it could be a cover for weeks now @Hermione, and I agree that a cover definitely wouldn't be the end of the world. I'm sure I will still enjoy it and I love all of their covers. A song praising America just isn't exactly the message I was hoping for from the first new Green Day song recorded in a Trump-America. There's really nothing wrong about covering a song and there's nothing wrong about loving your home country and expressing that. It's just that the world is so fucked-up right now that I'm yearning for their critical voice more than ever. Maybe my expectations are too high, but that's just the way I feel.

Is there any way we can see writing credits for Back In The USA? That might solve the problem I guess....

Yeah, they're probably on the inside of the album
