Officially coming out this week.
Huh.
You know, if it weren't for this thread, I haven't really seen anything else in the media regarding this GH album.
And as someone previously mentioned too - aren't we also getting a music video (although for what, I do not know).

(Also, I'm gonna have a mod moment right now - please remove videos/images when quoting someone, thanks!)

Yeah!! when they announced the release of GFB, on their Instagram, they had written that we would also get a NEW music video. But the point is.... we did not know anything about it anymore! who knows !!!

I’d so much rather he duetted with someone like Pink

I'd probably die if this happened.

Boring tracklist! Sort of a useless release, but I guess maybe the five kids who don't stream and still buy CDs of bands they don't know might find out about the world's most famous pop punk band?? 😂

Gimme that new track though

I was just listening to Pandora when I heard this"

"Hi, this is Billie Joe from GD. You have the honor of listening to one of the songs off our new Greatest Hits release, God's Favorite Band."

My heart skipped a beat. Then they played Minority.

Promotion? For this album? How cool :D

I haven't seen any promo except the videos that they posted on instagram. I'm pretty sure this thing is going to fly under the radar. Or maybe they promoted it more extensively in the US?

If it's a cover I am absolutely not buying this. maybe a second hand copy some day, but if it's just a cover I'm gunna pass for now.

From what I’ve seen there’s been very little promotion here. If they had announced it sooner, they could’ve taken advantage of the tonight show appearance, the momentum of the tour ending, and Global Citizens. But yeah it kinda feels like it’s going to fly under the radar as you said. With the amount times I type “Green Day” into my browser in a given day, you’d think I be getting hit with a million targeted ads. I haven’t seen any that the band didn’t post themselves.

Why are people surprised this isn't getting promoted? I mean, RevRad was a studio album full of new songs and even that was barely promoted

Yeah their promotion sucks - I remember when Bang Bang was being released I had to ring our radio station to see if they knew anything about it - they didn't - they said they would find out about it & get back to me:lol:

Wish I could use both the laughing and crying reaction here. They really need to make a change in that department. Maybe management wasn’t the problem. They might need to change their label or their publicist.

Just as a comparison, I work for a successful mid level artist who’s also on Warner and about 20 years older than them. When he had an album come out over the summer, I couldn’t go anywhere (online, record stores, etc) without seeing the cover art. Granted, it wasn’t a greatest hits album but honestly it’s pathetic from a marketing standpoint that GD isn’t getting half of that. The only reason I can think of is that this was the band’s idea and the label doesn’t want to invest much in it because they don’t think it will sell given that it’s 2017.

I understand if they want to take it slower than in the past but I actually think that one of the main reasons for their commercial decline is their very poor marketing. The Foo Fighters put up posters of their new record in and around my hometown. And this is not the most urban area. It didn't see any advertisements when RevRad was released. No wonder it was not a worldwide success. How are casual fans supposed to know that there is a new record if there is literally no promotion?

Why don't they release a new music video to promote this album? Why don't they give interviews? They are currently touring through South America so it would be perfectly possible to appear on some TV shows there. It really feels like they don't know how proper promotion works these days. It's not 1995 or 2005 anymore.

And the sad thing is, we had all hoped that it would improve with the new management is. But the promotion actually went from bad to non-existent.

I really thought that yesterday Reprise would've posted at least one of the "new" songs yesterday just to remind people that the album's coming out.

I was reading an older article and it was talking about Otis and said there was a copy of a Chuck Berry LP on the front door and I thought, oh crap.

But where exactly does the line "fuck these people" fit in the Chuck Berry song? I still have faith in this one :happyhands:
