Well most labels generally do like to have input from artists but you do have those in power who just don’t give a damn

this leads me to another question... IF green day were to leave warner (which i'm not exactly sure why everyone is assuming this is the case haha), how would this impact a new release for a b-sides collection? Warner probably has all the rights over all the unreleased material, right? if gd were to leave, would warner but out an unauthorized collection to cash in on them? if they don't then I assume it would be too much of a pain to put out a b-sides collection on a new label, meaning it would probably never come out

Tech Warner owns all recordings of studio stuff GD owns or co owns the publishing 

If they leave Warner Warner could release the b sides and such to an extent as Green Day owns the name Green Day so they’d have to sign off on the useage of the name now would Warner do that? Well I guess that’s depend I don’t see Rob doing that personally if his had been late 80’s early 90’s I’d say they’d do it in a heartbeat look at what they did to Prince who in no disrespect to GD is a much bigger artist their old ceo had no issue with cashing in on him and exploiting his music the new Warner seems to be better at that it just depends

In a few words, I think this is great for all the reasons already mentioned in the 10 pages of this thread. I want (and expected in the first place, but you guys have instilled doubt in me )  a Forever Now video.  C'mon, they have been preparing it for a little time now, and they love it so much they just want to give it a big promotional boost with the rest of the package 

I'm filled with limitless joy for the band. They're doing so good. They keep promoting themselves, that's announcing more stuff, a next tour soon. I think it was way too soon for a new album anyway, they have been touring for more than a year! But this will indeed keep them on the road, and a new album will come out in less time than we will need to stop staring at those candles once we get them. 

Oh yeah, and I'm buying the God bundle.

I saw someone already answered you , as for me I bought CD's and a T-shirt and don't remember the shipping costing more than a few $. And it came pretty fast.

I mean...it makes sense to me, though I can't say I was "expecting" it. It's a smart move for them commercially because they probably don't want a repeat of last round's post-album silence. Though the circumstances of that were understandable, I'm sure the team is probably pushing for the opposite this time.

I completely agree with the team! A long silence is a very bad idea. They need to stay on the radar until the next actual album. And I would love to see them expand their methods of visibility. This is a good start.

This. This makes me sad cause yes, this means they already forgot about RevRad, and yet the tour is not over, is like they don't care about the tour on Southamerica. I'm angry, bitter and sad.

It doesn't mean they don't care. They had the American Idiot Musical out and were promoting nothing but that only 5 months after 21st CB came out and they still continued to care about the tour and play fabulous shows! It's just another thing they're doing alongside it.

They've been LOVING touring and saying they don't want it to end, when they set off on the South American leg they're still going to be loving it.

I like this. I like that it gives them something new to promote. Yeah it would have been awesome to continue seeing stuff for RevRad but I don't feel like it was catching on. If it's not catching in, there's not a lot of reasons for them to keep going out to promote shit and play music on TV and radio.

Okay, so they did an actual "Greatest Hits" versus a singles collection.  And a single disc is more economical I guess, and after listening to these in this order I may like it.  They are in chronological order (even more so than International super hits!!!) so that's a plus.  

While the last one was a hold over while the band was having issues, I believe this time is the opposite.  While the wait between studio albums varies, Green Day almost never let a year go by without giving us something.  I believe they will have a new album out sooner rather than later.   So I won't keep getting on here and bashing this thing, because lord knows I'll be buying it the day it comes out.  But yes, I think they are gearing up for more action, and I like it!   

However!  The Greatest Hits that my OCD brain wanted was this:  Either a complete and total singles collection with all 45 singles in chronological order OR International Superhits VOLUME 2 with all the singles starting with American Idiot and going all the way to Forever Now.   Either of those would have to be two discs, no getting around it.  

Can't wait to hear the new songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is Back in the USA a cover of the Chuck Berry somg or an original song though? It would be really weird to end their greatest hits album with a Chuck Berry cover but on the other hand it's a pretty specific title for a song so it could go either way. I really really hope it's original.

Me too, I’m not complaining about this new GH release by any means but since OW is not technically a new song either, if the other is a cover I’ll be pissed. I want new original material.

Looking forward to what GD has in store. @LaughingClock seems to have a lot of information and is stirring a lot of mystery up. Hope he's truthful. Good to hear that Billie is supposedly writing at an elite and fast-paced level.

I don't really care for a greatest hits album or the song choice but I like the artwork and merch and look forward to the music video and two new songs. Would have preferred some b-sides but Laughingclock seemed to imply it was greatest hits or b-sides.
