They played Burnout and a bunch of oldies. Apparently they "dug deep" into the catalog

Wait what? Where did you hear this from?

I think any band is available for a private show but it would cost like 10-20k depending on the band.

Not true. You couldn't get GD to play a private anything unless it was for promo or you knew them or paid them in the millions (more than an areana show) then 10-20k. It costs more than that just to fill their rider (addendum to the contract)

It would be way more than that for any band you've heard of. This list estimates GD at 500k plus (Edit: It's from 2014 so a lot of it would have changed by now, but pretty sure they'd still cost quite a bit)

https://priceonomics.com/how-much-does-it-cost-to-book-your-favorite-band/

If you want a much more up to date and accurate account of what bands cost, find out what venues they are playing (take the average ticket cost and subtract about 25-30%) and use Pollstarpro, the standard. It has actuals (also knows an real numbers).

Also depends on the type of event (festival, one off, tour, multi-day). Obviously GD gets paid differently for a 50k Rose Bowl show than a 18K El Paso show. The economics of live music is also changing as bands make less on music sales.  Problem is as bands make less on ticket sales, the labels want more of the ticket sales and therefore have been working it in to the contracts which used to be a bands way to make some money outside of sales.

Let me break it down like this. 500k+ for GD is a joke. LN collected over 2 mill at the Rose Bowl, add a portion of concession (lots of money), merchandise (lots of money) and do you think GD is collecting less than 1/4 of that money? No, they get the lion share of it. And of course there is venue rental, cost of promotion, cost of stage hands and everything else but still even at the arena shows they get well over that.

Again, look at the pollstarpro numbers for real numbers are on what they've collected this tour.

Guys, check out this setlist... short but unreal. Armatage, TDTD... even Nice Guys and Nuclear Family! I'd kill to see these live. Anyone know anything about "Fuck These People"? Unsure if it's a cover, or a joke, or... a new song? In any case, hope we get some video from this gig at some point in the future.

The soundchecked Nice Guys at the Rose Bowl. Makes sense now

Holy shit, the video of 2000....they really are a band of fucking dicks. Play a bunch of rarities to a small crowd half into your show, play a greatest hits tour for your fans who pay $100s because you’re afraid the crowd won’t be into it. Fucking. Dicks.

I expected something better,  like brat, I was there, jackass, reject, private ale or something like that. (personally I think that green day became lazy in this aspect, ok new records but same songs in live)

TBH I expect most of those attendees to be pissed they didn't hear American Idiot. I don't have a garage, but say I won and they played at my parents place. My mum would flip her shit that they didn't play Basket Case 😂

I'm confused. Did a video of 2000 Light Years Away from this garage show show up somewhere? I think they play rarities when it's the small crowds because a) energy/momentum is less of a factor and b) they figure it's only die hard fans. I wish they'd change up the set list too but I don't think it's fair to call them dicks for not doing so unless it's because they don't give a shit, which I can't imagine is the case.

To be honest this setlist isn't so special. They played Armatage Shanks, Burnout, Paper Lanterns and Nuclear Family couple of times this tour. Too Dumb To Die was often soundchecked. So I think the setlist was created by the band.

Don't get me wrong, all the songs are great and I would die to hear them live, but at the same time I expected something REALLY unique on a private show like Whatsername, Homecoming, Walking Contradiction or Misery  From the other hand the crowd in the video doesn't look like hardcore fans, so maybe it was a good decision.

"Fuck these people" is very interesting :P

I love that it was thought they “dug deep” into the catalog - those songs are not that  I mean they are some of my faves and not a bad tiny setlist but hardly rarities.

Is that everything they played or just the songs they planned to play. I mean is it possible these are the songs that they definitely played and then they just did more off the cuff or requests from the crowd?

Wow they finally decided to play Too Dumb To Die to a crowd. 🙄

Well actually they played it on the Australian tour so that's not really true.

But yeah, that setlist was nothing special. It was just the older songs they've been playing throughout the tour that people have already heard. Unless "Fuck These People" was a joke, "Paper Lanterns" was probably the rarest thing they played.

I'm sure anyone who's been to every Southern Cali shows in the last 10 years isn't really missing out on much.

It's not that special but not sure what else we could expect? For all we know they saw the awkward video of the guy who won and figured that's as deep as they needed to go. Personally I'd be over the moon just to hear Too Dumb to Die (or Do :D) and Nuclear Family.

When I first saw the video of his reaction I was confused but then I saw the girl's reaction and something tells me he entered for his daughter haha
