Jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers. Dress comfortably and cooly (temperature cool) because it gets hot in there especially if you're in the pit. I was glad I was dressed that way at my show.

Agreed, it does get hot.

Okay so basically what I'm about to say goes for any concert, especially in the Summer time.

You need comfortable, flat bottom shoes that you can stand and walk in for hours. Nothing open toed, protect your feet from the elements!

Jeans. Nothing else. No shorts. No skirts. Anything besides jeans is going to equal a bad time.

A T shirt. Short sleeved. Nothing nicer, because you'll sweat all over it by the time the day is done.

And also if it gets cold in your area at night, you'll need to carry a light layer, such as a hoodie with you.

No big bags. Only small purses or fanny packs. I would recommend something you can carry cross-body to avoid it getting stolen.

And my own personal recommendation would be to skip a lot of makeup if it's going to be hot. You're going to sweat and it's going to be both ugly and uncomfortable. So maybe just some mascara and lip balm would be good.

I hope you enjoy your show! Trust me, to get the funnest possible experience, you need to dress super casual and practical.

This is entirely too much clothing for a hot outdoor show. Thin tank tops + jean shorts for me! Plus lots and lots of water.

It's not too much clothing if you don't want scrapes and cuts all over your legs by the end of the show. But to each their own.

a shirt and pants is the smartest way to go, good coverage and you'll avoid scratching your legs up too badly just in case anything might happen. (Imagine being dragged over the barricade in shorts, Y I K E S). Also, like Sherribomb mentioned, it gets cold at night. Especially at like 12-1 am if you're waiting for the guys to come out after the show. Cold plus Sweat equals a bad time. You're gonna sweat no matter if you wear shorts or pants, might as well go with pants and save yourself from freezing later on.

Never ever ever ever wear skirts or dresses. You just look stupid.

Remember you're going to get hot and squashed and will need sensible shoes to stand for a long time in and not get your toes hurt if they're stepped on, and that whatever you wear might get damaged by sweat/jumping around etc, and with that in mind just wear whatever you're comfortable in.

I personally don't care if my make up is messed up during the show when no one's paying attention to me/after the show when I'm just leaving anyway, so I wear it like I do every day since there's hours of hanging around/queuing before that. A bit of smudged eyeliner isn't the end of the world. But if you are bothered by the idea of it getting messed up probably is best to keep it light.

Disagree, I only own skirts and dresses so that's what I always wear and I don't look stupid, no less practical than trousers with with some leggings underneath. I find a skater dress and leggings more comfortable and easy to move in than jeans.

At the show I was at there was a moshpit going on behind me and a guy spilled his beer all over my shirt. Yes, clothes are washable but don't wear your "good clothes" to a show.

You just have to wear whatever you're comfortable in. Don't prioritise fashion over comfort and you'll be fine.

Personally I always wear leggings, a t-shirt, comfortable shoes I can run in and have a coat with zip-up pockets tied around my waist if it's cold. If I don't have the coat I take a neck pouch thing I can put under my t-shirt. The leggings are a must for me, because even tight jeans/trousers can start to fall down when you're running for the barrier or jumping, but leggings can't and they're easy to move around in.

Yeah there's nothing stupid about wearing dresses to shows, at least they can't fall down and aren't too hot to wear. I'd rather wear a dress and leggings than jeans to shows these days tbh.

Y'know, there are these things called opinions and everyone has them. That's why I said for me, personally, I prefer to wear as little clothing as possible for outdoor summer shows. I've never gotten cold (at the coldest part of the night it's still about 70 degrees and humid here) and the only way I'm getting dragged over the barricade at a Green Day show is if I'm knocked unconscious and don't have a choice, so at that point I won't give a fuck about my legs. :P

Also, I agree with the others — a good skater dress is nice and airy and if, like me, keeping cool is a top priority for you, it's a good option. Plus I think I look very cute in a dress, not stupid.

PLEASE Don't wear a dress in a mosh pit. Learn from Courtney Love's mistakes.

Why would a dress with leggings or even tights be an issue though?

See I could say don't ever wear jeans because I had a bad experience with them, but lots of people are obviously really comfortable in them and would never wear anything else. It's up to the individual and what they're comfortable in, and if that's a dress then that's what they should wear.

Guys lets not get hostile. But like people before me have said, wear something comfortable and dont carry anything you wont need or else it could get stolen. Though have fun!

How I laugh when fans of Green Day who are apparently all about being yourself and not fitting in with the crowd like a sheep are snobby over what other people wear at shows

Is this really the impression we want to give to the OP, that they have to wear the same as everyone else instead of being free to wear whatever they're comfortable in in case some small minded person doesn't approve of their fashion choice? I've seen people wearing all kinds of different outfits at GD shows, all that matters is it's comfortable and works for you.

Have you tried it? I find it perfectly comfy.

Just something really confy, I personally don't think too much about fashion. For the shirt, something that is breathable (a large t-shirt or tank top) is ideal. A money belt is also great to put money/cards and your phone. Plus a confy backpack for food if you're bringing any, and I always have a jacket with me or scarf if it gets cold at night. For this reason I also prefer to wear pants/jeans (I always end up freezing after leaving the concerts/festivals).

But the most important would definitely be shoes, bring the confiest you have, even if they're falling apart or don't go with your outfit.

According to the weather it'll be about 73 degrees in Oakland during the day. It gets cooler at night, but (assuming you have GA ticket) it will be hot in the stadium since we'll be squeezed like sardines in a huge crowd of sweaty people lol. I'll be wearing long pants, T-shirt (or tank top is good too), and comfortable closed-toed shoes since we'll be standing for multiple hours and feet will get stepped on
