tomdsjames
I've not heard anything about Somewhere Now being released as a single or even the potential of releasing it as a single. However, absolute radio have it listed underneath their new music section, and it's also overtaken Still Breathing as the most played Green Day song on Kerrang over the past 30 days. Green Day have released different singles in the past outside of the US (East Jesus Nowhere being the last one I can think of) and this would potentially explain the reason for the delay in releasing the RevRad music video. Maybe a European only release to tie in with the festival appearances? Has anyone else heard anything regarding this?
Grinch
In the UK, like over half of the RevRad album has been all over the rock radio charts. They're listed as "non-single charting songs" on Wikipedia but that's all I know about it. I noticed yesterday and was really suprised. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Day_discography (also sad to see that bang bang was so close to cracking hot 100, but peaked at 104)
tomdsjames
Those chart appearances were the week RevRad was released and they dropped off immediately after. Websites that track radio play have Somewhere Now suddenly showing as the most played song from RevRad for the last month. Just made me wonder why it's suddenly had an increase in plays and Absolute Radio listing it under their new music section.
Christian's Inferno!
I don't understand why Green Day are limiting all their singles Bang Bang's CD was a Best-Buy exclusive. Still Breathing's CD was only released in the UK and was only intended to be sent to radio stations. RR hasn't had any promotion or music video yet I believe Kill the DJ and Stray Heart were non-US singles as they didn't chart in the US on any charts. Oh Love, Let Yourself Go and X-Kid were the US singles for the trilogy I believe
tomdsjames
Still Breathing didn't even get a proper uk release, it wasn't available to purchase anywhere. 😕 It's a rumour that spiralled based on an eBay listing for a radio promo cd (and we don't even know if that was real as we've only ever seen one copy). I'm not expecting any physical copies to surface for Somewhere Now, but it's an odd coincidence for Kerrang and BBC Radio to both have it as their most played RevRad track last month, and Absolute Radio listing it under new music. Doubt we'll get any official word on it anyway if it's not a US release 😐

I doubt it's going to be a single if it took this long for Revolution Radio to be a single. It doesn't even have a lyric video and has been played live a small handfull of times. I even heard my local radio station playing MISERY of all songs last summer. idk what else to say
The Great Saiyaman
I think it might just be played because it's the first song. It's a memorable way to kick off the album, and I've heard this happening with a few first-track songs from other bands as well.

Actually Dead and Bloated was a single! Or at least a promo. But hey, it's not too popular but I see where you're coming from so it works.

Yeah you're right on that. What I was actually referring to which I completely forgot about was that it was apparently a double A-side single along with Sex Type Thing according to the wiki... but the only versions I can find on discogs are live versions of the song on a CD single with other songs on it too... The wiki claims it's the original version released in the U.K. so maybe I'm just not finding it. But yeah you're right on the sampler thing. Didn't see that. Edit: Sorry Matt didn't see your post. Christian's Inferno!
So I haven't seen this interview but apparently there's gonna be a Forever Now video and Somewhere Now is gonna be a single? So does that mean that eventually both of them will be singles and both of them will get music videos? I'm confused

I'm so glad they're doing a video for Forever Now, it's one of the strongest songs on the album and probably one of my favourite from the post-AI era, it's an absolute banger when they perform it live and I'm looking forward to seeing what Sam does with it (probably burning the footage with cigarettes and showering with the film reels again haha!) herewegoagain
Verbatim from the interview: Quote That was the glorious new single from Green Day, Somewhere Now [...] -You've outdone yourselves with the videos this time. Bang Bang was really fun, Still Breathing was beautifully shot. -Yeah we've done some great work with the directors, and... I think hopefully we'll be working with Sam Bayer again. We're gonna do a video for the song Forever Now. He did a lot of the AI stuff, and, so yeah. It's really important to have great videos for us, anyway. So sounds like they're both singles! I was worried for a second that they were mixing them up and the video was for Somewhere Now, but Billie's phrasing really doesn't sound like it. That Dude
Wow, Somewhere Now and Forever Now as singles, that is totally unexpected! I'm glad they finally went with a more risky single choice, whether it becomes a huge hit or not. It would be nice if they both had videos that connected like Holiday / Broken Dreams, but I'm just super excited that we are getting this at all. I know Rev Rad is not selling trillions of copies, but it IS selling and I think the guys (or at least the record company) are happy with how it is doing. Five singles and possibly more? I would love to see the album have a sixth, but I'll take five and be happy. BANG BANG, Still Breathing, Somewhere Now and Forever Now! Somewhere is a bit of an odd choice in my opinion but it's awesome. While I am blown away by this news, I'm getting that sad feeling when a Green Day era is wrapping up. Sad to see it end, but crazy excited about album 13, possibly proceeded by a Foxboro Hot Tubs Fun Fest to recharge the batteries! After the "Nows" do whatever they are going to do on radio, "Ordinary World" could be an amazing way to say goodbye to the era. The new generation needs their own "Good Riddance". Slow down, it's not over yet, there's still the whole summer US tour and South America to go (and maybe Japan?), now more singles, another video... They are nowhere near done with RevRad, and I'm still holding out hope for a concert film/DVD at the end of it.

I do hope to see them live at some point too. A live dvd would be great. I did the math on how long after each album release the band will promote it with singles/videos and Nimrod held the record. The last video was released 1 year, 5 months and 9 days after the album. That would put Rev Rad finishing up around March 16th, 2018!!!!! As of 7/14/17 we are at 337 days of Rev Rad with possibly 187 more! (Anyone want to see the lengths of time for each album - let me know!) 13 hours ago, herewegoagain said: Verbatim from the interview: So sounds like they're both singles!
