Boulevard of Brexit Dreams
So sixth form prom is coming up soon, and the prom committee has allowed each student to submit 3 songs for a playlist, which the DJ would then select songs from to play. My friend on the committee informed me that the more upbeat, popular and fast a song is, the more likely it is to be played Therefore, i went with American Idiot, Holiday and Know Your Enemy I would've put Basket Case in, but realistically its too old and slow to have a realistic chance of being played Also, Good Riddance is very popular at US proms, but from the sounds of things it would have no chance of being played. Here in Britain, proms are 10x less lavish + culturally important than in the US. Everyone just wants to get drunk and dance basically, so GR would be rejected. I know KYE splits opinion, but i like it and it would be good to dance to drunk. Also quite a few people know of it I really hope AI or Holiday get played! Second favourite son
The songs I've heard most often in clubs have been Basket Case, AI and Holiday, I think in that order (though often my memory isn't at 100% by this point). Drunk people just seem to love Basket Case, and it's always seemed by far the most popular to me. I think what you've chosen is good, because it's best that the songs are ones people know - I would've switched out KYE for something more well known like Basket Case, but not a major issue - and at a sixth form leavers' event you really just want to be singing along with your friends and having fun
Trotsky
I would have gone for less known ones, like Letterbomb and Deadbeat Holiday, which are both very catchy and upbeat. But American Idiot and Holiday were good choices. I never liked Know Your Enemy all that much, but that's just me.

I guess it's trying to find the sweet spot between a song being well-known enough to get played, but also being a song you want to hear as a fan, which will often be something less popular. aydge89
Unless the DJ is a massive Green Day fan he's probably only going to play songs he knows of, so AI or Holiday would be your best picks. When It's Time would make for a great prom slow-dance song, particularly the lyrics.
