If this is the video people were talking about, here it is: https://www.facebook.com/GreenDayLIVEonTour/videos/773517896957438

I think Billie was very reasonable in this post. He obviously does not want anyone getting harmed or going to prison over a car. Thought it was nice that he even offered to bail the thief out of jail LOL. Of course things can still go off the rails whenever police are involved, but it is obvious that he just wants the car back and doesn't want to cause trouble for anyone. Hopefully this works out.

I hope that means it was found

Probably not. It more likely means he was self conscious about how he looked. There were a whole lot of memes made of his dad look at the end with his glasses

The problem with promises like this is of course you would say you don’t want them to face charges when you’re trying to talk them into turning themselves in. :P

I hope he didn’t feel bad about that. It seemed to be all in good fun.

I really hope it’s not the reason. I get that people don’t  want to be mean, but all those memes feel quite inappropriate. He’s obviously quite upset, it’s clearly not a good time for those

I didn’t think of it when I saw the memes, but yeah, maybe in general, it’s not the best idea to make memes on a platform where he can see it.

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but it made me a bit uncomfortable. I really hope it’s not the reason though, and that there will be good news soon

Didn't see any memes about his live.
Who posted it?

There under his hashtag on instagram. I think some even tag his account on it.

People can be so rude and dumb. This isn’t surprising. Ignorant and can’t think of anything better to do? They should use their energy on something more worthwhile.

On the other side, I’m glad to see lots of support and reposts and sharing the news and people trying to help with a positive outcome.

I hope the car is returned safely and soon.

I just think it was endearing memes out of the face he made at the end of the stream. It's just funny.
No one is taking the loss of his car lightly.

I noticed he’s keeping the comments turned off on all posts… it’s probably for the best but at this point I doubt anyone would go after him.

I mean yes, you want to encourage the thief to return the car LOL, but I think it goes deeper than this. I think Billie is aware of the optics of his situation. It is just a car at the end of the day, and he is in a comfortable enough position where his life will go on largely uninterrupted whether or not he gets it back. It's not like a poor person getting the car they need to get to work and support their family stolen. I think he realizes that the justice system has far more important things to deal with than this and that being really heavy-handed with the thief would be pretty poor form given his position.

Yes for sure, he’s playing his best cards as this is gaining some media traction. I doubt it’s going to make the thief return the car, but he’s got a way of gaining favor with the peasantry  (that’s a small victory)

Yeah but rich or poor, losing something of sentimental value is a huge loss

That's definitely true, not to mention the violation of having your space broken into and your stuff stolen. That's not OK, especially since, as I noted earlier, it's pretty obvious that this was a planned and targeted crime, not just a desperate person doing something desperate. But still, it's far from the most serious crime that the justice system will be dealing with at any given moment, and I think Billie is aware of that.

I don't think he is simply trying to gain favor though. I think this is actually how he feels. I am sure he is very angry about what happened, as anyone would be, but I also think he has the perspective to realize this isn't the end of the world. And I doubt he really wants to punish the thief. I think he just wants his car back.

Yeah I get the impression they could have stolen any other car Billie has and he wouldn't have been bothered but this one is special to him :( He could buy another but it just wouldn't be the same and that's sad

I also noticed there are some pretty mean things being said in the comments on Facebook

Yeah I believe he’s saying what he feels. There’s not much else he could say either way, though.

Yeah, I think it has been like that for a few months. Usually there is just no message box to type in, or it says something like you aren't receiving messages.

Just an out of the box thought but I wonder if his lawyers told him to take the post down because by promising to pay their bail he was entering into some kind of verbal contract with criminals that could unintentionally be conspiracy (like if insurance fraud was alleged or something). So to avoid getting bound to a verbal agreement he had to take it down.

That totally makes sense. I just hope nobody reposted it, because that can still be used against him

It’s been reposted everywhere so you can’t ever make something go away on the internet but at least taking the original video down helps to show he didn’t intend to make any binding offer with crooks
