Never. If they’re not going to interact directly with their fans anymore, I wish they would at least do some radio station and print interviews from the road just to hear from them. 2
Popular Post Vintage Disciple
I was just thinking the same thing. The silence is so deafening this time. I just re-watched the Wrigley Field press conference to cheer myself up a bit. Damn, that was so funny and cute. It’s such a depressing time and such a shit couple of years. I don’t know why but the BJA and Longshot accounts being deleted actually really hurt. As if any band owes any fan anything like that? No. But we were spoiled for years and it felt so fun and like a special little club/community and a connection and making friends with other fans and more. I understand a break I think everyone needs and deserves one but this going on this long is actually depressing as if there isn’t enough going on in every day life and around the world. The posts were such a pleasant surprise even when they were constant or once in a while and ranting or cute or whatever. Anything was always so nice for some reason. Billie Joe was so good at fan interaction despite and maybe especially because the band is so big and such a big deal. It meant so much for some reason to a lot us for whatever reason and it actually sucks a lot that those accounts are gone. Dormant ok… but gone is really sad. I hope they pop up again. It has happened. But never for this long and no I won’t get used to it and obviously not alone feeling that. I’m feeling very disconnected from being a fan during this era and on top of the pandemic and so much more this is like the cherry on top of a shit sandwich. 2

I think back to when he was doing No Fun Mondays and how good that felt to have something to look forward to during lockdown. Every week a new post, song and video. I was incredibly depressed from March through May 2020 and it really helped a lot

Popular Post jumpsalty
I don’t think we will ever get the same kind of content from Billie because he’s gotten ‘guarded’ since the Joey situation, in my opinion. He stopped social media and the stuff home stuff/personal stuff around that time and I guess he’s enjoying it enough to not bother professionally either. It’s sad yeah but we aren’t owed anything and the ‘disconnect’ is in our own heads really because before Instagram we never had content like this, but we always had photos from live shows afterwards, so to say it’s corporate or whatever is a bit silly. They’ve been doing that for years and years.
Popular Post jengd
@jumpsalty I think you totally right, but those of who followed Billie loved his posts, they were random, often funny and we just miss them, as simple as that.

This tour has felt corporate in every way but one of the most disappointing ways is the lack of social media engagement by the band members themselves when you think of how much they shared during RevRad: backstage, soundchecks, hotel photos, bus videos, livestreams, etc. Now it’s just stage photo after stage photo posted by management interns and they’re all starting to look the same. I don't really get how that makes it seem corporate? As enjoyable as they were the livestreams and restarting posting on different social media etc for Rev Rad was certainly suggested/encouraged by the corporations they work for as it's good advertising. There's no way they're not doing it because their management don't want them to, it's just a personal choice. Not feeling like being on social media isn't a corporate move - forcing themselves to do it even though they don't want to because their management wants them to would be though. I miss Billie's posts too but if he's not into being on social media it's better that he isn't. No one should spend their leisure time on an activity they're happier without and social media in particular is one that can really be a negative to have in in your life if you're not enjoying it. If he feels like it again one day that'll be awesome but him forcing it despite not enjoying it to please management and/or fans wouldn't even be good. 9
Popular Post Beerjeezus
You’re right that it’s what the corporate requires them to do either way (to promote the band), but now it’s visibly corporate since the band left the job to the company.

Virginia Lot Lizard
I just miss the funny random posts and the awesome heck giving posts (like the one about the Longshot and not quitting Green Day that was a good one) and the secret music project posts. But yeah definitely wouldn’t want the posts forced. Ever. Being happy and healthy is important. A lot of us miss the Billie and Longshot posts a lot and appreciated all the random stuff only crazy GD fans would appreciate the most. There’s not secret bands or releases or shows on this tour. There can’t be. That was the best about the Longshot and the BJA account. Holding out hope that sort of stuff will happen again. The timing isn’t right. Pandemic and a giant tour. That’s enough. Hopefully this tour will get his creative need and wishes for a small club tour like what happened after the Rev Rad tour with the Longshot. Live shots from Hella Mega shows I can get from the Green Day IG or news stories or fan posts. That’s fine. The posts are great and Green Day is looking and sounding spectacular. Nobody getting penis mugs. We saw some good stuff and that can’t be forced. 2020 and 2021… Wtf… Can’t wait until this shit is really over and we can get back to the good times. Masks, anti-vaxxers, etc. I don’t feel like this is a fun tour era anyway. Not sure though. Tré in the shower. I wish it was more of a series. That was a good show. There’s no secret shows or secret bands or secret new music or releases. I will very much enjoy the Oakland Coffee House BTS and Tré in the shower in the meantime. Tré Cool = ❤️

Nothing forced but miss the personal interaction. Billie probably does too because I think he loves the personal connection to the fans. The big tours are good but he craves the smaller more intimate venues where he can really interact on a more personal level. I am holding out hope! 1

The band members doing their own thing is separate altogether. what I’m saying is, the band has always had different ‘fads’ regarding how they interact with fans (billie sending photos from his house to the website in 1997, when they would leave phone messages on greenday.com in the early 2000s, uploading behind the scenes as they made AI, q&a’s on idiot nation, Twitter, eventually Instagram. Ultimately it all trickled off in the end. But the uploading of ‘official’ content has still always been there alongside that stuff.

It makes me wonder what the next version of fan interaction will be and when we can look forward to it.
