Hermione
It's just two people giving each other shit in instagram comments. No big deal

pacejunkie punk
The irony is the song they are complaining about is a song that is specifically about this kind of toxic internet culture so it kind of proves his point for them to react over it.

I could understand if it was a random hater, but not this. It’s kind of twisted. Yeah, I get what you mean. I decided to not troll him because it'd make me feel bad - it's easy to get a response out of him (and it'll be something angry and hardly comprehensible), so he's an easy target. It'd be like making fun of a slower kid in class and I'd like to think I've changed since third grade. But I'm sure it's fun to troll him, because it's rewarding. He's giving them exactly what they want. If he called me an internet commie I'd be on a roll and provoke him some more.
Popular Post solongfromthestars
He didn't come across as that angry to me in this case. It seemed more like he was just trying to make a joke of a stupid comment. I laughed at his reply, anyway

Billie Hoe
Feedback doesn't have to be constructive. Feedback is just any kind of response you get when you throw something out there and people have an opinion on it. It's not feedback on his post but it is feedback on his music that he promotes on his account, and since there is no other way for fans to contact him.... well. I mean everyone can have their own opinion ofc but I think he's being embarrassing lol. The dude was right regardless of whether you think he was being insulting or not and the fact that Billie apparently seems to believe you can't have communist beliefs and be on instagram is so galaxy brain and its probably for the best he deleted it because it's embarrassing as hell for him lol

I agree with you. If someone is gonna talk shit get ready to be on the receiving end. If someone isn't ready then they should be prepared to shut the fuck up.

Popular Post Billie Joes Eyelids
No what’s spot on is that there are people who believe that as a fan they have the right to tell Billie exactly how he should present himself musically and politically. And that apparently it’s appropriate to state this randomly on an unrelated post, because Billie needs to live up to their idea of appropriateness. And if he doesn’t he deserves abuse. Oh and if he does respond, then he’s embarrassing. Because, you know, human emotions are wrong, even when you have a mental health history. But especially if you’re “old”. 7

Virginia Lot Lizard
I love Billie. And I’m glad he pays attention and responds even if it’s to someone who doesn’t deserve it. I like that Billie pays some attention. I’m guessing he looks at the nice comments too but there’s too many to respond to each individually. Too bad for that.
Lenny
The irony of this whole thing is the guy who wrote the comment probably is unemployed by choice. His life consists of welfare line, a night out at KFC and after wiping the grease of his fingers he types bs remarks about how everyone else is a sellout despite selling his soul and freedom to the government for free money. Billie caught him the guy is an insta-commie.

He doesn't need to live up to anyone's idea of appropriateness, but he's a public figure, so it's natural that people have opinions. The fact that this person was trolling him on purpose aside, there's no other way to communicate with him, so there will always be all kinds of messages in his ig comments. It's not embarrassing that he responds, but how and to whom he responds. It's just not very smart. That has nothing to do with his age. When he chooses to reply to someone who's entire account is "bja sucks and he has dumb liberal politics!!!!" with literally the stupidest liberal argument imaginable, he's only giving them what they want. But that’s not what that account is. This person is obviously a fan who simultaneously hates Billie for not living up to her ideal image of him. For those saying “he”, this person is female if you look at the profile. Not that it matters, but anyway. Billie absolutely has a point. For a person who identifies as a Communist to post on Instagram is hypocritical. Directly putting money into the pocket of the worst billionaire out there right now. Someone who completely exploits people for profit with no regard for the outcome. Hell I deactivated my personal Facebook account because of Zuckerberg and I’m not even a Communist. I think a big factor in this was that it was in his Longshot account and it was random. I think Billie considers that to be a safe space where he can interact with fans in a lighthearted way, and this person came in and took a dump on that, then made fun of him for responding the way he did. Not cool, at all.
Popular Post solongfromthestars
I don't think the original comment was really abusive. It just wasn't a particularly mature way of putting it. Regardless of his response, though, I find it more embarrassing that people have anonymous accounts for seeking the attention of celebrities, let alone celebrities they claim are questionable people. Like, they're complaining he's a shitty person or sellout or whatever, but not only do they want the attention of said sellout... they value his opinion enough to hide behind anonymity so he can't judge them. They might be criticising him just to provoke him or defensive fans, but then going on to seek attention still isn't a great look. Of course, it's totally valid if someone genuinely wants to give feedback. It doesn't have to be deep or constructive. I also get that some people use anonymous accounts so crazy fans don't go after them. A lot of people are just after attention, though. They don't comment on his main, which is the relevant account for anything Green Day related - they comment about Green Day on Longshot to make sure he sees it. Interactions of any kind go straight to their bios. It's like the people who make multiple accounts to insult famous people until they block them all, just so they can say they've been noticed several times. Don't get me wrong, Billie can be embarrassing. I'm not really saying this to defend him. He's nearly 50 and doesn't need a random stranger to protect him. I've just always thought people craving attention from celebrities are as cringey as any response, even if they're looking for positive reactions. To me, the most embarrassing thing about Billie's reaction wasn't what he said (I thought it was quite funny tbh), but that he gave the person the attention they wanted.
