Billie Joes Eyelids
Does anyone know what that is that Billie is watching in his last story? I’m hoping inspiration for St Jimmy for AI movie but it’s probably some random clip.

Can’t say for sure, but it looks like “Decline of Western Civilization,” a documentary on LA punk.

Popular Post Hermione
Maybe he means the type of weak/vague positive message people tend to suggest making when the idea of making a real/honest/strong protest message that they don't like comes up. They aren't just saying spread a positive message, they're saying it in opposition to the idea of making a noise about things that should have noise made about them. 7

They aren't just saying spread a positive message, they're saying it in opposition to the idea of making a noise about things that should have noise made about them. The idea of making a real/honest/strong protest message was never being discussed. Billie posted to young rock n rollers encouraging more of them to be "young rebel heroes with loud guitars". He is posting about more young people playing music/joining bands etc. However in his post he also told them to "Spit your anger. Piss people off. Cuss . Swear. Be offensive. Be dirty. Smash glass". In a world filled with anger, hatred, violence and assholes like Trump who delight in being offensive and pissing people off do we really need to encourage young people to do behave like horrendous human beings? The person who asked this to Billie posed a genuine question. There was nothing to be in opposition to (kids starting bands/playing music?!) other than him promoting negativity and they asked him in a way that easily offered him the opportunity to simply say yeah of course I want to spread/encourage positivity or don't actually encourage the spread of negativity/violence/anger/hatred I mean blah blah. He has often explained himself in detail when misunderstood in posts before but his fuck positivity its time to go crazy reaction is a pretty shitty response. Yeah, playing music and rebelling/speaking up as part of that. He's talking about being against authority and not conforming, not being offensive in the style of Trump. He never said anything against being positive in his original post, but the response implies that rebelling and making a noise is a negative so yeah if their idea of being positive means not doing that I can see why he'd give that answer to it. I really don't see how his original post could be seen as negative. A classic response to encouraging rebellion is to say isn't that as bad as what you're speaking against and shouldn't you just be nice etc. That's what they were doing. Billie's a lil punk so he disagrees. 1

The specific things he suggests doing can be seen as negative things and the person simply said hey what about "spreading more positivity TOO?" They never called him out for what he said. And at nearly 46 it's a bit of a sad excuse to say oh he's a lil' punk when he says something like "fuck positivity". That's just a crap attitude. Popular Post Jesus of Seneca
I mean, I'm all for his message, it's a rare piece of realness. When everyone is preaching conformity and fake positivity, there's nothing better or more appropriate than a little rebellion. Course, maybe he doesn't want to be so serious all the time either 3 hours ago, Hero_Of_The_Hour said: God I fucking love this man That was just the advice I needed 3

If it was a blanket "fuck positivity" then yeah but it's not, it's in the context of them placing positivity as separate to and possibly in opposition to what he suggested implying that what he said was negative. It's fuck the type of positivity that means just being nice and not saying anything and not getting anything done, or something along those lines, not a blanket anti positivity statement. 3
Popular Post solongfromthestars
Positivity as it manifests today can actually get really tiring. So many people are "thankful" and "blessed" and eager to share messages of positivity without considering what they really even mean, or whether they really mean them. It can stop people expressing negative emotions, whether they're about politics or their own lives and that's dangerous. Without wanting to sound like an anti-social media mum, it does exacerbate that because there's a need to present our lives as more positive than they really are, especially for (and because of) celebrities. I think that's just what Billie means - fuck feeling like it's bad to be angry and go crazy. He's said before that he's more inspired by negativity than positivity, so it's not a big surprise. Personally, I definitely don't want to hear any songs telling me I'll feel better if I look at pictures of puppies 4
Popular Post pacejunkie punk
I don’t think it’s about being positive or negative but more about him wondering where all the subversive bands are. With music being all corporate and prepackaged and everybody thinking they have to be good at something right away, he’s not seeing the next Green Day or any young rock bands out there ready to cause the next wave and shock people like they did. Everyone is too afraid or focused on being famous or some bullshit. Anyway, that was my takeaway. He wants to inspire the next generation to do what he did. They may have been accused of being sellouts but this was a band that got naked onstage, set their drums on fire, destroys record stores for the hell of it and tells the powers that be to fuck off, all while reaching a wide audience. Where’s the next big band that’s not afraid to do that? I feel his pain over the current state of music.
