What I really don't like about 39/Smooth (or 1,039 as well) is the mixing. I can understand it though. I think that songs like The Judge's Daughter, 16, I Want To Be Alone, Going To Pasalacqua and so on would sound great with a Dookie-sound.

409 in Your Coffeemaker was made with a Dookie sound and put as a B-side on Basket Case

This sounds so much better to me than the original. I really like the chorus much more on this. 409 was already one of my favourite songs on 1,039 but this one made it better

Dookie sound was the best Green Day sound, wish they sticked with it.

If they had we would be bored to death of Green Day by now. Bands change.

Maybe you, but not me. I'm bored with their "no bass" modern sound that they use on RevRad

Obviously not everyone, but I highly doubt they would have made it past a couple more albums by sticking to the same formula.

Yeah the bass needs to be higher in the mix hopefully it is next time around.

I believe that if Dos was released as 2nd Foxboro Hot Tubs album it would get only love contrary to this hatred. Some songs like Makeout Party, Wow! That's Loud or Lady Cobra people don't appreciate as a serious songs of Green Day, but if you look from the wild side - the riffs and atmosphere are really crazy and fun.

That's actually a really good point. While listening to it I was reminded of FBHT so many times. In that sense it works. As a GD album *shrug*

Dos had Fuck Time so I don't know how anyone can dislike that album.

I have to agree. For this reason the second verse of Still Breathing is one of my favorite part of the album, when the bass kicks.

Besides this fact, I like RevRad production as a whole.

I chose TRÉ because it has many fillers on it, as simple as that. Sex drugs and violence, Little boy named train, 8th avenue serenade, etc.

Tré with filler is still better from a lyrical point of view than Uno! and Dos! in my opinion. Dos! should have released under the Foxboro Hot Tubs moniker and Uno! and Tré! should have been one record with a more Demolicious-like, raw sound, less songs, with some lifted from Dos! (Stray Heart, Lazy Bones). I'm not surprised to see the Trilogy account for 60% of the votes, though I'm surprised 1,039/Smooth is more disliked than Uno! and Tré! Also, how the hell can you dislike Kerplunk and Insomniac?

Hard to pick out of the trilogy, I passionately believe all three are bad albums.

Vocals sound weird on this one.. sounds good tho.

They all suffer from random track lists, weird lyrics, sterile vocals and muffled bass, but at least Tré has a couple memorable songs. Dos! is in my opinion easily the worst because it shouldn't have been released as a Green Day album. By nature it's the second Foxboro Hot Tubs record and should have been released under their alter ego moniker, not as Green Day.

I don't see how the track listing is any more random than Nimrod. Nimrod's track listing is completely random.

Surely, but they were clearly moving songs around at random between the three records, whilst the three records were supposed to be different. Lazy Bones would have better fit on Tré! in my opinion.

I think all the songs work on the album that they're on. Lazy Bones might be reflective and fit in with the theme of Tré, but I think musically it belongs more on Dos

I disagree, but I understand where you're coming from. Maybe they should have just released one record consisting of Uno! and Tré! songs along with a Foxboro Hot Tubs record.

I've never really thought Dos as Foxboro, I don't really get why people say that. I think it's the best of the trilogy. It has the most songs I enjoy, but also it has some of the weirdest and not very Green Day songs. However, the songs in question don't seem like Foxboro....they don't seem like Green Day in any incarnation.

Maybe I just haven't listened to it enough. Like I said, the trilogy was a dark period for the band in my mind.

Also, I hate when people compare any of the trilogy to Nimrod. Nimrod is a great album, and is experimentation done right.

I disagree that Dookie was their best sound (although I would say their sound was pretty consistent through Warning even if the style changed) but I agree about there being no bass on RevRad. I think it's part of why the album sounds very generic and I can't get into it at all.

So THAT'S what's missing on RevRad!! I knew it sounded like something was lacking, and you put your finger on it.  I really wish it had more bass too.

I just read 6 pages of this thread to see if I typed something.  I did.  And it makes no sense at all.  With that being said, and I'm very nasally, Green Days worst album is .... Donald Trump.
