WhiteTim
I don't think he actually said he dislikes Horseshoes and Handgrenades, he was just a bit surprised when they were asked what song they'd pick to sell the new album and Tre picked it, and it was mentioned once that it was Butch Vig's idea to put it on the album. Not really any concrete evidence of him disliking it, more that it probably just isn't one of his favourites. And yeah that's true about 1000 Hours, the quote was "Not only was it not for a band to play or to play as a band, it's just the sappiest song about a girl, to the point where it's like a bad John Hughes movie!" . I can't think of any others. In the GW he said Butch forced him to do Horseshoe that he didn't want to do it
Hermione
In the GW he said Butch forced him to do Horseshoe that he didn't want to do itI just found the quote from GW, Billie said: "And Butch would also champion certain songs, like 'Horseshoes and Handgrenades'. I'd kind of forgotten about that one. You lose perspective because you're so close to the material and you start taking certain songs for granted. But Butch was like 'We're recording that goddamn song!'."So yeah he pushed him to record it, but that doesn't mean he didn't like it once he'd recorded it.Along similar lines he's said he wasn't going to put Give Me Novacaine on American Idiot but Adrienne told him he should so he did. Again not really an indication that he didn't like it but it's another one he hesitated with.

Chin for a Day
I just found the quote from GW, Billie said: So yeah he pushed him to record it, but that doesn't mean he didn't like it once he'd recorded it. Along similar lines he's said he wasn't going to put Give Me Novacaine on American Idiot but Adrienne told him he should so he did. Again not really an indication that he didn't like it but it's another one he hesitated with. In the interview he did for Broadway talks, with Michael Mayer, someone asked him if he ever regretted any song he had written. It took him a split second to say no, then he followed it up with about 10 more no's. Just like anything we do in life, some of the things we create we like better than others. It doesn't mean we don't like them. It just means we like other things better.

Libertine Angel
Who plays harmonica on the end of Knowledge? 'Cause if that's Billie it's by far his best harmonica playing.

Hermione
I thought it was Aaron Cometbus. As far as I know he only played his teeth (like, hitting them with his fingers to make a sound at the beginning). In the back of his latest book there's a little blurb about him that actually mentions he "...earned a gold record playing his teeth as a musical instrument." in reference to that and I'm not sure if it'd say that if he'd also played harmonica. I don't know who it was though so it's possible.

Beerjeezus
I have two questions: how risky was touring with Pansy Division in 1994? I read that they might have lost a part of audience over it. That seems like an exaggeration to me, besides it could draw even more attention to them. And how do the offstage guitar pedals work? Are they dealt with through some kind of sound board or is there a guy who pushes foot switches? There's a guy offstage who pushes the pedals (Hans Buscher, Billie's guitar tech, to be specific). This video is really informative.

Billie Hoe
Does anyone know why the song 'Dry Ice' is so named? Dry Ice song meaning This is one of the songs that Armstrong wrote about his best friend's sister. The narrator is expressing his genuine feelings towards a girl that inspired him to write this song. He is deeply in love with her, keeps dreaming of her and wants her to be by his side, but he doesn't know if she feels the same way. He doesn't find enough courage in himself to write her a letter, his pen is "writing wrong" and he decides to express his feelings in a song, hoping that she will hear him and understand how much he really needs her. That's all I could find. He probably never said why he called it Dry Ice. Btw. if you ever need to find song meanings go to geekstinkbreath.net ... so helpful I guess we'll have to interpret it (Edit: He wrote it about his best friend's sister?! Mike's sister???)
