Fuzz
Does someone know if Green Day was supposed to play on Letterman to promote the trilogy and it eventually didn't happen because of the rehab ? They didn't announce it. The only TV show that was known that was cancelled was an appearance on Ellen. Though I'm pretty sure they would have stopped by Letterman at some point in the few months of the albums release.

Spike
Is The Forgotten an official single? No. It was on the Twilight Soundtrack album and charted in the UK and Japan due to digital downloads. As far as I know.

They had to cancel an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel too, they were replaced by Alanis Morisette who covered Basket Case.

Todd
Green Day professionally recorded every show of the 21CB tour... so why don't they do what many other artists do and make all the recordings available for purchase so you can relive the concert? I know they prefer physical albums, but I'm sure anyone who's been to a green day concert would much rather have a digital recording of the show they went to than a live CD made up of tracks from a few different shows, right?

Presumably because the shows were already costing so much to put on due to the huge production, they didn't want to pump more money into it by doing that. They might not have wanted it potentially affecting AAF sales, either.

Throw a few rare songs out during the tour, people will buy shows they didn't even attend

Todd
Could possibly be a label reason as well Metallica and Rancid both do it/have done it, and I'm sure many other artists do as well
green day is
Metallica and Rancid both do it/have done it, and I'm sure many other artists do as well Tim Armstrong owns his own label and Metallica isn't on Reprise. They have been and/or are on Warner, but I'm not sure what label they were on when they released the live stuff.

Jon Benjamin
Also it doesn't cost them anything to sell if they did it on their own website like most bands do who sell all their shows. Maybe Warner thinks it'd affect ticket sales. Another thing bands do that I'd love Green Day to do is have a code on your ticket that gives you a free soundboard recording of the show, that'd be magical. green day is
Metallica just released a new one today, they've been doing it all tour http://www.livemetallica.com/catalog.aspx Okay, well they aren't on Reprise, so it could still be a label issue. Also it doesn't cost them anything to do Of course it does. There are expenses involved in releasing music and if they aren't certain they'll get that money back they won't do it. Not even close to enough to affect anyone from making any money that they wouldn't without putting them out.
WhiteTim
Metallica and Rancid both do it/have done it, and I'm sure many other artists do as well When did Metallica start doing it? Besides I didn't say it was the reason just that it could be who knows Besides it'd be expensive with the covers to get rights any reason could be why I wish they did tho Barely. Not even close to enough to affect anyone from making any money that they wouldn't without putting them out. Green Day plays covers getting the rights to sell recordings is very costly
Fuzz
Green Day plays covers getting the rights to sell recordings is very costly They could just remove the covers. My guess is they don't do that because they would prefer to instead just put out one really polished mastered live album, rather than something rushed each night as a memento.

True but I can imagine the "they edited the show" comments lol
The Disappearing Boy
Maybe they just want the fans that were actually there to be the only ones who see the whole show, kind of as a present to them. I often wonder if that was why the cut some of the Bullet in a Bible songs.
