Green Day Q&A Thread

So I went to B&N to pick up some manga to take on the plane with me to NC where I'll be visiting family for a bit. Their record section is right in front of the manga section now, so I went thru a few of them and saw Green Day's Insomniac but it was the 25th-anniversary edition. (And thus I got it, even tho I don't like Insomniac all that much besides for a few songs, and the album art is just stunning.) My question is that on the official website or somewhere when they describe including a select few songs from the live Prague show it's referred to as 'infamous'. Does anyone know why that is? Or if it's not infamous, why did they choose the Prague show specifically?

I don't know if it was that infamous but they had planned an special release of that show (their first official live show on vhs/dvd) around late 96 or early 97 but it was cancelled. They released some of the material on YT at the moment of release of the remaster, but a full show was edited and keeps gathering dust after all these years. The most important thing to me is that they keep the songs as they were played, not like the released versions on the singles/live eps of that time, where they edited or dubbed the performances. The differences are quite notorious, at least for me :)

Not directly GD related but anyways, according to wikipedia, Rob Cavallo is an Oscar winning producer. Do we know for which song he got the oscar? I can‘t find anything about it..

I see it listed in several places but I can't find any information on where his Oscar win supposedly came from. Anywhere that lists his awards only lists the Grammy's and the only movie he worked on was Rent in the sound department. The sound department for that film was nominated for outstanding sound by the "Satellite Awards" but didn't win. It had no Oscar nominations.

Edit: Figured it out I think, it was his father Robert (Bob) Cavallo who was a producer on the Purple Rain movie. Prince won an Oscar for best original song on that one.

Does anybody have a screenshot of the Green Day app logo? I remember it was green like Uno with the word Green Day in pink.
That was the most useless app but I shouldn't have deleted it 😂

EDIT: Never mind I found it with Wayback Machine. It's literally the Uno cover.
Shoutout to the iHeart Music Festival article. Boy they didn't knew what was going to happen.

Is this at fiat music school?

I'd say definitely not. It's quite a small place and there were no doors like the one in the video

I doubt you could fit that many people in sat down!

What's the name of the guitar Billie plays in Minority in Bullet In A Bible? I've been searching on my own but I can't find it...

it's a Gretsch Brian Setzer Hot Rod Model 125 Year Anniversary 🎸

Recently thinking. What's really the story behind Billie singing with a lisp?

Every time he sings I hear:

,,I went shoo a shrink tyou anylise my dreams  she says it's lacka-ses-as bringin me jao''

Or: ,,Only wonda-da have ever none (...) But it's onto me, naa wore cologne''.

I'm not native, but I speak fluently. Without knowing the lyrics I couldn't understand it.

From live footages recorded by fans I hear people sing along with perfect, clear accent. I mean, normal american accent.

This made me laugh out loud.  His diction (clarity) has always been questionable, hence the misheard lyric thread!

When did Green Day opened up for somebody else the last time? Must be decades ago, right?

First thing comes to mind is when they toured with Blink but I think that was a split headliner. I know people at the time say Green Day outshone Blink by a lot

Officially since Pop Disaster was a double headliner, it had to when they opened for Bad Religion just before Dookie came out late 93 or early 94. They’ve been a headlining act ever since

For most other GD fans I'd say it's MCR too. For some probably Foo Fighters or even Blink. I should have stressed that I meant for me personally it's probably Sum 41

Gérard Way gives me the creeps and I can't listen to or watch him but most GD fans I have on my social media would say MCR (a few Sum 41 like me)

Sum 41 followed by The Interrupters but it's very very close.

- Green Day

- Sum 41

- The Interrupters

- The Offspring

- Blink 182

I just learned that the lead singer of The Interrupters used to date the lead singer of Unwritten Law.

Nobody gets close to GD for me and you are are right about Billie!  It’s the hooks too, and crunchy guitars.
