I've only ever read him saying 10 but seeing that he got it from only his mum on his birthday, 11 would make sense because it was his first year without his dad.

Yeah and I can't think why else it would say 11 in his biography and equipment page on GDA unless he'd said it, especially as a lot of people used to wrongly think his dad gave it to him before he died so he was 10 so if it was just a guess it would've said that. He might just not remember the exact age he was I suppose :P, but still I want to find an old interview where he mentions it to see.

He would have been 10 that first Christmas and 11 in February so did he get it for Christmas or his birthday?

So I read somewhere that Billie and Mike have a matching tattoo? Is that true? If so I find that super sweet. :)

I read somewhere that Blue was given to Joey when the guitar wasn't in a good state. But I doubt if it's true.

Another question: We all know Billie hast glasses. Does anyone know if he uses contact lenses during concerts?

Cause otherwise he probably wouldn't see the fans.

It also maybe depends how bad he sees

I remember that. I think there was a short time in the 90s when he was only using replicas and he said in a magazine interview that it was broken so he'd given it to his son (although of course he went on to fix it up and start using it again). Anyone know the interview?

Yeah it would depend because a lot of people who wear glasses don't need them all the time, some only need them to read/see close up, some only need them to see long distances, some only have them for a mild problem and can get by fine without them etc. Haven't heard that he wears contact lenses.

I don't remember the exact interview. I think you can find it somewhere on green day authority. But I don't remember the name.

Yeah, I'm such a case. I only use my glasses for driving. But without I can't see what's far away from me.

Would be interesting to know if Billie can't see far or near.

I guess it's near. Don't know why.

If it would be far, it's funny cause that would mean he doesn't see his fans.  But maybe he uses contact lenses.

I heard that one of Billies sisters works as a optician, so he probably is able to get his eyes tested regulary.

My guess is that Billie is near sighted. Based on the fact that he seems to wear glasses all the time, when he is not working in some function, I would guess that he does wear contact lenses.

When you get to a certain age *cough* you wear bifocals for reading and distance. The photo were he's sitting on the couch with drunk bunny he's wearing them while looking at his phone so it's possible they're progressive lenses that do both, but his distance correction is mild so he can get away without them on stage and other times.  That way you don't have to take them on and off to read like you do with reading glasses.

Actually, I am "of that age" and fully understand how it works.  I have also observed that he often has his glasses on 24 x 7, not just reading. Which is why I think he may wear contacts. But alas, no one will know for sure unless we ask him.

That's the point of bifocals, you wear them all the time that's why I guessed that's what they are. I'm of that age too and I wear them myself 24/7.

You can tell if someone wears contacts from close ups and I've never seen them. My point was if his distance correction is only slight he doesn't need contacts but would wear progressive glasses offstage for both distance and reading and not have to take them on and off.

You can see contacts in someones eyes? Those must be some pretty strong bifocals.

FYI, I did say that it is my guess he may wear contacts, not that it was definite.

It shows a faint circle around their pupil in a good photo yes.

But regardless, distance vision tends to worsen through your 20's and 30's and then peak and start to improve after 40 as close vision starts to decline. He only started wearing glasses around 40 which tells me they are primarily for reading. You don't suddenly need glasses for distance at that age.  But bifocals are more convenient if you have a small distance correction which also wouldn't necessitate contacts (which there's no evidence he wears) So in summary:

He's over 40

Only just started wearing them recently

Wears them while reading

Wears them 24/7 offstage or in private

No apparent contacts use

= bifocals

I love when people are so confident about something they are only guessing at.

Again, I said I was making a guess. You may actually be correct that they are bifocals. I don't know. I have had corrected vision for the last 44 years. I am uninformed on the subject. Is there a reason you had to turn this into I'm right and you are not?

No, I was trying to answer a question and basing it on the evidence and my own experience as anyone here would who doesn't know Billie personally. A guess maybe, but an educated one.

As was mine an educated guess, based on my own experience. Neither one of us knows what is the correct answer, they are both plausible.

Do you think there's any chance Green Day will appear at the APMAs tomorrow? They are nominated as artist of the year.

Hi :) Has Green Day a post address? I wanna send a letter, and I want an autograph, too. Do they reply to fans letter?

You can look up the Warner/Reprise address and try to send a letter there, but they don't usually reply to letters or send out autographs. If you're going to any shows on this tour, they've been briefly greeting fans after most of them :)

Huge fan of Green Day - I'm just curious as to what the lead singers name is?  Thank you in advance.

I'm going to assume that you aren't trolling and are just a new fan. His name is Billie Joe Armstrong, and that's his real name.
