EDIT: He also said it's his favourite tattoo.
cabot_girl
Delete if not relevant. I'm interested in any new photo of Billie and Tim Armstrong, or any mention they have had of eachother during the Green Day/ Rancid tour this summer. I am a huge fan of both bands, and have been the last 22 years. They touring together is a dream come true, but I wont be able to see any of the shows live. If anybody will help me, thank you so much 😊

Ash-517
Does anyone have any idea what pickup was used during Woodstock '94? Has anyone contacted Billie Joe's tech about this? I don't know if it's just a white JB (unfortunately, Seymour Duncan prints their logo in white, even on white pickups, so it's nearly impossible to tell). Even if it was an SD, which model? I thought I heard something about it being a Duncan '59 somewhere, but I can't recall where I heard this claim. Any help would be greatly appreciated! kkpojpojpj
Is joining the Idiot Nation worth it? I'm really curios about it but don't want to join only to find out it isn't anything special.

I'm really curios about it but don't want to join only to find out it isn't anything special. If they announce a presale for a show you're going to it can be worth it because it's nice to have an early go at getting tickets. Otherwise not really, they have occasional contests to win merch and a forum (nowhere near as good as GDC ) and not much else. Was kind of cool when there were exclusive show pics and Jeff Matika Show interviews with the GD members but now they don't bother with pics and the Jeff Matika Show is just him interviewing other musicians who have nothing to do with GD and even that doesn't happen very often. If and when they ever do something actually worth joining for (eg a presale or tickets for a secret show etc) you hear about it before it happens and can just join at the time. So imo there's no point in joining now. Maybe some people feel differently? But I can't see much appeal.
pacejunkie punk
Thanks I was wondering that myself. Other bands I know give you presale access just by signing on to their mailing list but for this you actually had to pay to join. I'm not into collecting stuff like vinyl and posters or whatever so giveaways didn't interest me either. I would do it if there was a chance they would play a secret club gig in my town and members got the info or something. Odds of that are slim. Yeah they have sold tickets to "secret" club gigs through Idiot Nation before. But whenever that happens it's announced that the show's happening and that they're going to be selling them, and you can sign up and instantly become a member and get access to them. If that happened with a show near me I'd be signing up of course , but to my knowledge there's never been any need to be a member in advance. kkpojpojpj
What the fuck is Billie saying here? Is he even saying anything or is it just gibberish? I've always wondered about it.

I've always wondered about it. I like to think he's saying "sing it with me, whoa". But that's not based on any evidence other than listening to it and thinking it could possibly be that, could just as easily be gibberish. That bit isn't in the lyric booklet so there's no official answer.

I love the song but that part always pisses me off because I can't sing along to it and I love singing along lol. Yeah I know there's nothing official but at least your answer is plausible and something I can sing the next time I listen to it Damn Billie and his inability to enunciate words sometimes!
LizTheRusher
I'm not really sure where the appropriate thread for this is but I was wondering if it is possible for me to sell my VIP ticket for the Cincinnati show. I recently purchased tickets for a more desirable show and just want to get rid of this one since it's the night before classes start at my college. I have a hard copy of the ticket and paid over $400 for it. I'd sell it for $300 though. Will the VIP stuff work if I sell it off to somebody or will I have to list it as a regular pit ticket? If you have a hard copy you can sell it on Stubhub. I usually get almost double when I sell tickets. I think the longest I've waitied for my tickets to sell is about a week.

pacejunkie punk
So does anybody know the one true history of Blue? I've read so many conflicting stories I need to know what to believe. From various sources (books, articles, interivews, etc) I've heard everything from: - He started with a red guitar at 8. His guitar teacher owned Blue and Billie loved it and told his mom about it. She bought it from his teacher as a Christmas present at age 10, just months after his dad died. - His dad bought Blue shortly before his death from a guy in a band called Big Band Beat to give to Billie. - There are multiple replicas of Blue. I know this to be true because I saw a show on YouTube where he asks the audience if they want to see a trick and he hands off one "Blue" only to be handed another by a roadie that looked just like it but with different stickers. - In an interview with Billie's guitar tech he shows "Blue" and says other than minor repairs he hasn't done much to rehab it. Says nothing about copies and seems to imply the original is still playable and fine. - Other interviews described Blue as being on its last legs and barely playable at some point in the nineties hence the replicas. Is "Blue" still alive? So who really gave it to him and when? Where did it come from? How many are there now and is the original still playable and the same one you see at shows today? I feel like I need a tell all expose on Blue alone!

I also read that the real Blue was retired from shows, but he posted a few pics of it on instagram last year and, if I remember correctly, it looked in decent condition for it's age, so it's probably still playable. Don't know how many replicas he has though.

I feel like I need a tell all expose on Blue alone! Billie's mum bought Blue from his guitar teacher when he was 10, not his dad. The Blue that you see on stage currently is the original one. He has used replicas during other tours but that's while still using the original as he normally has a back up in case a string breaks mid performance while using it. In the late 90's his replicas were blue Stratocasters that had different stickers but he eventually gave them away/stopped using them. Then in 2005 his backup was just a sunburst Stratocaster (you can see it in a few live videos). Starting from the 21CB Tour he started using a Fender Telecaster as the back up, the ones he would also give away to fans, and he kept using these up until the Trilogy tour. The only exception is during the South American tour for 21CB, Blue needed some repairs so he got another (darker) blue Stratocaster with different stickers and used that, that hasn't been used since though. Starting from the RevRad Tour he had a Buddy Holly replica Strat with stickers that he used as a back up but after he gave that away he started using a green Stratocaster called Swamp Thing which I don't think he used but now he has a custom Les Paul Junior called Blue Junior. Blue has had many different repairs over the years but nothing too major. It still has a lot of it's original parts (you can tell by the look of them) but he has definitely changed the tuning pegs, the pick up, and most likely the wiring. I imagine the biggest repair he's had to it is a neck press so the neck stays straight/how he wants it. So to answer your question, yes him mum gave him Blue, yes he still uses it, yes he's had replicas, and no it's not on it's last legs.
Hermione
Has Billie always said he got Blue when he was 10 or did he used to say he was 11 and just start saying he was 10 recently (presumably because it sounds better)? I have a vague memory of him saying 11 and it says so in two different places on GDA but I can't find an interview to prove it so I'm not sure. I've only ever read him saying 10 but seeing that he got it from only his mum on his birthday, 11 would make sense because it was his first year without his dad.
