It's probably complete bollocks though. ok this is like months later BUT yes, it is true. I heard he tried to attempt it when people requested it, but he didn't know the words, so I printed out the lyrics for him so he wouldn't have any excuses. at the sound check in las vegas on august 21, 2009, i held up the lyrics and he said "what's that?" and I said "it's the lyrics to misery, since you seem to always forget them" and he laughed but continued on with the sound check. at the end of the sound check, he comes over to me and says "let me see those lyrics", takes them back to his spot and has the whole band playing it. it was amazing. he totally messed everything up when he got to the bridge, though, so he stopped the band and gave me the lyrics back. a year later, I brought the lyrics to one of the "american idiot talkbacks" that Billie did after a few of the american idiot on broadway shows. after completely making fun of me and my tie dyed shirt in front of everyone, he later apologized to me and I gave him the misery lyrics to sign and he was like "oh, I remember this! you're the girl that made us play this!" and he autographed them for me. one of these days i'll get it framed, but I still haven't gotten around to it. the end. 16 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Beerjeezus Posted June 1, 2015 Share Posted June 1, 2015 My favourite thing about Green Day fans? 99% of them live by the rules that 1) you can NOT take anything Billie says onstage or in interviews seriously (duh). 2) Billie talks shit all the time and it must be dismissed immediately 3) if he is not simply full of shit or just ranting onstage or in an interview then he must be joking. These rules apply to basically everything he says unless it is about how the band will never ever break up (ever unless coffins are involved-fans love that shit), how he has never ever looked sideways at another human since getting married (aww -fans really love that shit) and of course how he didn't say he was using hard drugs when he was forced by managers to go to rehab after fucking up the bands album promo & tour because he was totally fucked onstage. Well seems legit Creating a public image is not about telling the truth - it's about trying to be a decent person and letting the public know about your private life only as much as you want to. So by my standards, not telling everything or watering down the harsh truth is acceptable. I wouldn't say he's full of shit. Mostly, he's just making ambiguous statements or saying vague phrases that in fact are just hot air. That's what most bands do. Btw. he didn't have to do hard drugs.
