I have a silly question. :ermm:

Why does Billie Joe say "This song is dedicated to everybody who took the train to get here tonight, alright?" for JOS from BIAB?

He said that a lot on that tour. Because why not? :P

True.

I always thought it was a reference to Joe Strummer's "Last train to 'insert random town/city here' " chant that he used to do during White Man From Hammersmith/Palais. Seen here at about 1.50

I'm probably completely wrong though :P

That's actually a really good idea though. XD

It would have made more sense if Lostprophets were the support act and Billie wanted to know who else rode a Little Boy earlier in the day.

Flashing forward to Little Boy Named Train, of course. You deserve a fucking medal for listening to that song, the least Billie could do was dedicate a number to those brave souls.

Its not a silly question & it has been asked before - I believe it is an old clash reference. When kids used public transport as a way to their freedom & also rebelling & going to a rock n roll concert etc.

What are some bands/musicians that Green Day have stated they don't like? Also, I never got an answer to my question about the complete setlist for I-heart radio show. What got me thinking about who they don't like was an acoustic show I have where the interviewer talks to them about mocking other musicians during their shows. They don't really name names, but the interviewer mentions Fred Durst and Art Alexakis, which seems random. Fred Durst is sort of panned/hated by a lot of people, but Art? That's strange.

The only one that comes to mind is Nickelback, which is an easy target. They actually don't slag many artists, they're disappointingly conservative.

Justin Bieber.

He never says anything negative about JB, only that he isn't him.

I know, just a joke.

Ooh, wait, Psy! "The herpes of music," Billie called him.

That makes sense. Guess they had 30 minutes to perform. So Basketcase was the last song they were to perform?

I assume so but wouldn't be shocked if they had one more song in mind

They used to take the piss out of and state their dislike for Limp Bizkit/nu metal bands in general quite a lot.

He never says anything negative about JB, only that he isn't him.

When someone tweeted Billie the false information that Justin Bieber had said he was too old to play he tweeted back "He's probably right! Hahaha! Well at least I'm old enough to fuck!". Kind of a dig, although he deleted the tweet soon after so it doesn't really count.

What are some bands or other musicians who have bashed Green Day over the years? I know Kid Rock and System of a Down have made little jabs at them, as well as the Killers. and Johnny Rotten. (I happen to like all of those bands, too bad they don't like Green Day)

Kid Rock - "Unamerican BS"

System of a Down - "We ain't no ****** political punk band"

The Killers called them "calculated anti-American".

Johnny Rotten....he's so punk he hates everything. haha.

Third Eye Blind had an accidental fight with Mike once, but everyone apologized and let it GO.

Who else?

Haha, in this case I was actually annoyed because I'm sure they've bashed other music acts as well (especially pre-American Idiot when they liked to take the piss out of everything) but I can't think of of more examples . But I've just remembered this gem from this 1996 interview, Billie slagging off Henry Rollins and John Lydon:

CW Do you get a lot of resentment from first-generation punk bands?

ARMSTRONG Sometimes, but not a lot. Henry Rollins has a stick up his ass. He's another bitter old bastard.

Basically he's complaining because we've made more money than he has. But hey, Henry, you fucking suck.

You were not even close to being the best singer for Black Flag, and you didn't even write the lyrics back

then. So why should I give a fuck what you think?

DIRNT The only band that has any right to be bitter would be the Ramones, because they fucking stayed

together. But even then, I don't feel sorry for one of the most influential punk rock bands in the world-probably

the biggest punk rock band in the world.

ARMSTRONG How can they complain? There are bands that were more influential to me who've never seen

the light of day, yet even they're not complaining. Take what you've got and appreciate that. I didn't get into

punk rock to get famous. It was already a proven fact that you couldn't get famous playing punk rock music.

God, we were around for six years before we broke through-from '88 to '94. We did two albums and three EP's.

DIRNT This was at a time when bands like Guns N' Roses and Van Halen were totally on top.

ARMSTRONG You know who's another bitter old bastard? Johnny Rotten. He sounds like my grandmother, at

times. He really sounds old. And he's so predictable in his comments about us. I mean, be a bit more novel.

Try and come up with something new. On top of that, some of the stuff from P.I.L. [Rotten's post-Pistols group]

was complete shit, as far as I'm concerned.

That article may not be politically correct, but it is correct. Like I said, Billie has no filter. I don't care how "punk" you are, everyone gets into the music business to make money. And everyone that says otherwise is lying. John Lydon should talk now anyways, he is hocking his autobiography and sells butter.
